The President flew from Camp David, using the Hagerstown, MD airport, to Charleston, WV, but not before he and accompanying staff and Cabinet members had to change jets. AF1 had a faulty engine and another jet had to be flown from Andrews AFB for the President and his entourage to use.
The President missed a Church service that he had planned on attending in WV, but said that he didn't miss it because of the sermon but because of a faulty engine and necessary jet change.
He spoke to an enthusiastic crowd in Charleston, where applause interrupted his speech after just about every sentence. In the pictures, notice the number of American flags - it seemed that everyone had one.
Hi TnT--hope you had a good day!
I'm on Kerry's e-mail list. Lol! I went there to get some information to use on my site. I've pasted a lot of his comments from his site and added my thoughts to them. Kerry had said his website users would get the first info on who his VP will be but I imagine the media will find out VERY quickly after that (if not before). I'd bet on John Edwards but I wouldn't swear to it.
I kind of hope it's not Edwards because he's such a "pretty boy" to contrast with tree face. But I think he has the least experience of all of them. Gephardt has more experience, but is sooooo boring.
Some news guy theorized Kerry would choose Hillary and then Bush would choose Condi and the VP debate would be the most exciting part of the whole thing.
PS Don't stress aobut the job. If you need to get out of the house, how about volunteering at a Long-Term Care center or something like that? Maybe you could help elderly people register to vote or something, help them get absentee votes? Just the hrs. you want, would look good on a resume, and get you out of the house!
Oh I'm not in despair .. I've been waiting for this announcement
I'm FIRED UP .. I want 50 States come November
Thanks for the ping prairiebreeze
Yeah.............we had to stand there and try to look pretty for hours! ;o)
Hey .. him and Kerry can compare their MULTI million dollar homes they both own while they are campaigning for the little guy
BTW .. they are BOTH lawyers too ..
I have to admit, Edwards is kinda cute but he's still got nothing on our president! :) Besides, being cute doesn't get you elected. And someone claimed that would help Kerry get more votes in the south but I seriously doubt it. Maybe NC but probably not the rest of us.
My reason for wanting the job isn't just to get out of the house, I need the money. I have several student loans and, thanks to my medical withdrawal for last semester, 3 of my 6 months after graduation for paying them off are already gone. Plus my parents are going into serious debt and my hospital bills, medications, and doctor visits aren't helping. I'm trying very hard not to panic.
Gotta decide what to serve! ;o)
See you Saturday, friend!
Checked out your website--GREAT job! I'll try to get a book review or two to you this week (please remind me if I forget!)
Just another thought on Stem-cell research--two thoughts, actually--today I think I saw a blurb taht Kerry does believe life begins at conception, throwing a HUGE monkey wrench into his flip-flops . . . also, stem cells CAN be obtained from adults, the "problem" being getting permission from the person, there's a certain amount of risk, etc. (IOW, harder than just killing a "bunch of cells")
I think it was Eric that got us up on the platform. :o)
Kinda fun to get them from the back, though!
I just wish the Bush team was hitting harder at Kerry and the Dems. in commercials, etc. But I'm in a state where every county was red in 2000 so maybe they're just not firing the big guns until after the VP announcement. I just hope they've learned from the disaster of 41's campaign.
Well OF COURSE no one is cuter than our President!!! I just mean Edwards has a LITTLE of that appeal, but in kind of a slimy, too polished way. But there are some people who think Clinton was "handsome" (gag me!)
DO NOT PANIC about the money.
FREepmail to you~
Yeah, I got the e-mail from the Bush campaign about his previous statements on abortion and I'm planning to work that information into my site. Isn't that funny? Life starts at conception...but it doesn't mean he's against killing innocent life. Hmmm...
BTW, I keep a second list for the second ping - several people have requested that they not get a second ping and if you are one of those people and are not yet on my list, send me a FReepmail and I'll remove you from the "evening" ping I do when the Dose is very early.
There is one more picture, from today.
President George W. Bush (C) makes remarks joined by Mel Martinez (L) and Robert Deposada (R) during a drop-by briefing for The Latino Coalition.
I have no idea where he was or when this was held except that Yahoo says it was today.
And with that, I'm off to bed. It's 11:30 EDT here. Snooze time.
Homemom - you'll have FReepmail in a few mintues after this post.
It's still early .. wait till Kerry picks his VP and the DNC convention
They won't get in the gutter with the Dems .. but they will hit back
I wouldn't be one bit surprised! And exactly as it should be.
Prairie
You are very welcome and with that I bid y'all goodnight!
If you're sure . . .
I've had the feeling for a long time they're just biding their time. Why waste money now on ads when they'll have so much more ammunition to aim in the right direction after the VP is announced???? Esp. if it would be Hillary they'll need to really get the word out there.
I don't expect them to get down in the gutter, but they won't have to. The dems--any of them--have given them enough ammunition. All the Bush team has to do is play back some of the idiotic/unpatriotic/flip-flop/just plain stupid things they've said.
I have to rmeember chess, not checkers.
