The younger Kerry, 53, had converted to Judaism from Catholicism in 1983, upon marrying a Jewish woman, Kathy Weinman

Let me guess:

She's inherited millions?

The ONLY time religion is a matter of concern in politics is when a candidate or office holder is showing their hypocracy by their disregard of the cannons/rules of their "declared" church membership. This does reflect their honesty and integrity.

Publicizing what their family is or does normally on religious matters brings us down to the lowest common denominator like the democrats.

The fact that he has - according to the article - an honest, hard working brother would be considered a PLUS to the Kerry side (compare to the clinton family(?)).

Bringing up his brother's religion is low class.

An obsessive compulsive control freak like Kerry knew perfectly well that he was Jewish for many, many years.

Kerry chose to hide this fact so that: 1) He would not upset his power base, the virulently anti-Israeli Left in America, and 2) He could continue to pretend he was Irish to get re-elected by the simple minded Massachussetts lemming voters.

I would like to Know something if yu were a Catholic and became a Messianic Jew what was your conversion? If your a Catholic and became a member of the Reform Judiasm what does that mean?

Okay might sound simple but I don't have a problem with people embracing there Jewish roots of the Christian faith and out of repect for your spouse embrace the culture of being Jewish, however I don't think it can get much worse in GOD's eyes if you give up the Risen Messiah as your personal saviour by rejecting GOD's son..IMO if you know Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and decide there is a better way to GOD you need to spend hours away from people and listen to GOD's voice so he will lead you back on the road to salvation...

KERRY DOES NOT SUPPORT ISRAEL. He just lies about it, as about everything else.

John Kerry On Israel: Second To Several (Kerry's voting record)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1155016/posts

I was intrigued by the suggestion that Kerry`s pro-Israel record was "second to none," so I looked it up.

The Jewish Virtual Library lists Kerry`s vote on 60 Senate bills, resolutions and other matters: "Legislative Record of Senator John Kerry on Issues of Concern to the Pro-Israel Community" (www.us-israel.org/jsource/US-Israel/kerryrecord.html).

I disregarded the 17 measures that passed with 90 or more votes (out of a possible 100), on grounds that these were not exactly profile-in-courage moments.

(That includes Kerry`s "fight" for loan guarantees to Israel, which consisted of his joining 98 other senators in 1992 in voting for Sen. Lautenberg`s resolution of support).

Then I discounted the 18 measures that garnered between 82 and 89 votes. You don`t get a "second to none" rating by simply hanging around with the 80-plus percent crowd.

I decided the best indicator of the depth of Kerry`s support would be the instances where the pro-Israel position got 60 votes or less -- by definition the most controversial situations, the ones where Kerry`s vote mattered most.

There were 10 of those votes in the JVL list, and Kerry`s record there was . . . envelope please . . . six pro-Israel votes out of 10. So in the close-call category, Kerry was basically a 60-40 guy.

The JVL list notes that, in connection with the FY 2000 Foreign Aid Conference Report, Kerry opposed the pro-Israel position. In 2000, he failed to join 60 co-sponsors of the "Middle East Peace Process Support Act" — a bill calling on the president not to recognize a unilaterally declared Palestinian state. He also failed to co-sponsor the pro-Israel "Peace Through Negotiations Act," which attracted 60 co-sponsors.

In 1993, Kerry failed to join 55 senators signing the Grassley/Lautenberg letter to the State Department, which demanded that it include Hamas in its annual report on terrorism.

but Cameron looks normal, at least in the picture posted here. How could he be Kerry's brother?

Cameron must have gotten the good genes and John Kerry got the freaky-looking genes.

John Kerry deliberately is using his brother now to woo Jewish voters.

Brother Emphasizes Kerry Israel Support
http://www.jewishjournal.com/home/preview.php?id=12482

A crowd of 150 well-heeled, mostly liberal Jews paid $250 apiece to hear Cameron Kerry, Sen. John Kerry’s Jewish brother and top adviser, speak about the Democratic presidential candidate’s commitment to Israel and the Jewish people.

Despite the enthusiastic reception for his younger brother, John Kerry has yet to excite Southern California Jews the way past Democratic presidential candidates have, experts said. His wooden personality, occasional criticisms of Israel and vehement support for the United Nations — an organization viewed by many Jews as anti-Israel, have raised questions about the Massachusetts senator’s commitment to the community. Also, President Bush’s pro-Israel policies and toppling of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein have won over an increasing number of moderate and conservative Jews, experts said.

But candidate Kerry faces a formidable candidate this time around in Bush, experts said. The president’s stalwart support for Israel has won him a growing following among Jews. With the community increasingly moving to the center from the left, Bush could win 30 percent or more of the Jewish vote. In a close race, that increased support could help deliver Florida, Michigan and other hotly contested states to him, experts said.

If one were working on the Kerry campaign. Two facts would quickly come to light.

First there is almost nothing Kerry can do that would cause the Democratic base not to vote for him. The Democratic base is united by one phrase.... "Anyone Except Bush!!!" So Kerry has no fear of losing the base. They are not for him.. they are for defeating Bush. There will be no liberal protest vote against Kerry.

Secondly, Kerry has a to win Florida. President Bush with his strong support for Israel has made inroads into the Jewish voting block. Not big inroads .. but inroads. Kerry has to reverse that. If Kerry loses a portion of the Jewish vote, Florida is out of the question for him. Kerry must have Florida to have any chance at all to win the presidency.

So from the Kerry standpoint there is nothing to lose by coming out strongly for Israel. The Democratic base is not going to waste their vote on Nader. The base desperately wants to defeat George W. Bush. Kerry needs the Jewish vote in Florida. He has to have it.

So Kerry will come out strongly for Israel... But that does not mean he will be strong for Israel after the votes are counted. Are Jews Dumb enough to fall for it? We'll find out in November.

The candidate impressed attendees with his knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs and his emotional grasp of the issues. He also got a chance to correct an earlier faux pas, in which he had suggested naming two figures who are unpopular with the Jewish community — former secretary of state James Baker and former president Carter — as possible envoys to the Middle East.
