For all of those who have been praying for my brother, sadly, I must inform you that he passed away this afternoon at 5:57 PM in Denton, Texas. He died of respiratory failure associated with his lymphoma.
We were set to take him home to in-home hospice care on Friday after some liquid was to be drained from his abdomen. Before that procedure could be preformed, he took a turn for the worse and his kidneys began to fail. The doctors indicated that further procedures might prolong his life shortly, but would lead to re-occurance in short order and probably a much more painful death. Our choice as a family at that point was clear. The procedure was canceled all infusions and interveinious medications outside of hydration and morphine were taken away. The doctors told us he would not last the night.
True to his form over the last three years, he proved them wrong and did last through the night, but it was a fight he could not win. I and my two brothers held his hands, wiped his brow, and prayed and sang to him through the last 30 hours of his struggle, the last three of which were a true death struggle.
At 5:57 he took his last labored breaths and his spirit departed this mortal existance to be with his Savior and with our father...where he no longer feels the pain and suffering of his condition, or cares of this earth. We bid him a fond, yet sorrowful farewell. Fond in knowing his is without pain and amongst those he loves, sorrowful because we will miss him.
I am thankful beyond measure for the last two weeks I had to spend with him...and thankful to so many of you who prayed for him through this time.
Eternal rest grant upto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
I'm sorry
Godspeed
My condolences and best wishes for your family.
Good night.

Thank you...he has gone to his rest and is now safe amongst frineds and his Savior.
Thank you both. We shall never forget and shall look forward to a joyous reunion in the Lord's own time.
I'm so sorry Jeff. Your family remains in my prayers.
God bless you. HOLD YOUR MOM TIGHT....(like you need to be told!)
We're here for you.
My sympathy goes out to you and your family. Even though you know he will be in a better place he will be missed by those who love him.
Thank you so much for those blessings and prayers. Pray particularly for my mother. We lost my Dad (her husband of 57 years) in January and now my brother.
So sorry to hear. What you wrote is so beautiful. Your brother is blessed to have a brother like you.
I hope you receive continual comfort and peace.
My condolences to you and the family. Prayers offered up.
God bless you and your family sir.
Thanks so much BG...through the tears, there is a brighter day and the hope for eternal reunions. We'll get there.
We are lifting you up.
I'm sorry Jeff, it's very hard to lose a sister or brother. My sympathies to you and your family.
My prayers and sympathy go out to you and your family.
I hope that your sorrow will be lessened by the knowledge that he is at peace.
May God Welcome Greg Home and Comfort his family and friends.
