Sorry, Long Cut, but the idea that sex can be just for fun is a pagan idea, not a Christian one. The sexual act between husband and wife is much more than an orgasm race; it is a physical and spiritual joining that God intends to be used only in the context of family life. Focusing on the physical pleasure of the sexual act divorces the act from its spiritual context; having sex for pure pleasure, or for any reasons other than the ones ordained by God, is disordered and immoral. The Church teaches that it is a sin, the sin of Lust, one of the Seven Deadly Sins: “Lust is disordered desire for or inordinate enjoyment of sexual pleasure. Sexual pleasure is morally disordered when sought for itself, isolated from its procreative and unitive purposes.” [See link below for source.]

God gave us the gift of sex for three reasons: first, to allow a man and a woman to become "one flesh", indivisible and inseperable; second, for purposes of reproduction; and third, for purposes of companionship, love, and family. Having sex just for the sake of experiencing pleasure is like eating just for the experience of tasting food. A person who eats for reasons other than nutrition is ultimately going to get sick. A person (or a civilization) that has sex only for fun is going to be spiritually sick.

I'm sorry if this message ruins your joy, but the idea that sex can be just another form of entertainment is pure poison. The destruction of traditional public morality starting in the 1960s has brough ruin and misery to millions of people. The Christian faith has always celebrated human sexuality as another way of glorifying God; to reduce it to a pathetic exercise in mutual masturbation is to dishonor both ourselves and Him.

These women need to reconsider their actions in light of traditional Christian morality.

Then why did God make it feel pleasureable?

Oh and while we're at it, why do our tastebuds pick up all of those sweet flavors? I remember reading many great 18th Century preachers' writings that argued that food should always be bland so as to avoid the tempation of over-indulgence, and basically arguing that eating food for the "pleasure" of eating, rather than sustenance was gluttony and a sin. Basically, the same argument you are presenting about sex.

BTW, the last time I looked, the "be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" command had been pretty much carried out.

Upon re-reading your post, I might have misunderstood what you were saying at first. I do agree with your assertion that "having sex just for the sake of experiencing pleasure" is wrong, and that a great part of the pleasure we get from sex should be because of the companionship we experience with our mate. Of course, this is not to say that we shouldn't experience pleasure from sex at all.

" I'm sorry if this message ruins your joy"

Don't worry about it. Since I obviously don't concur, how could it ruin anything?

" The Church teaches that it is a sin, the sin of Lust, one of the Seven Deadly Sins..."

They've been wrong about a lot of other things too. Besides, that's only an interpretation.

"Lust is disordered desire for or inordinate enjoyment of sexual pleasure. Sexual pleasure is morally disordered when sought for itself, isolated from its procreative and unitive purposes.”

Inordinate? Please. It's supposed to be enjoyed. And how in the world can it be "disordered" when you do it correctly? Sorry, yours is an extreme, fundamentalist view. Most of us do not worry over such minutiae.

" The Christian faith has always celebrated human sexuality as another way of glorifying God; to reduce it to a pathetic exercise in mutual masturbation is to dishonor both ourselves and Him."

I do not live every second of my life to glorify God. And how do you know that what I do is "pathetic"? I've always been told I'm pretty damned good...

Seek help. Sex isn't that bad, really.

Well, then Christianity got it wrong on this issue. wouldn't be the first time.

A person who eats for reasons other than nutrition is ultimately going to get sick

I see, so there is no reason to eat food that tastes good because doing so would mean you are eating it for reasons "other than nutrition."

Steak at Morton's Steakhouse is a sin, then?

I don't think there is anything wrong with enjoying the pleasures of the senses for their own sake. Those pleasures were given by God, and they have their own dignity, even if they fall far, far short of higher spiritual joys.

Should one abuse them? No. But is it wrong to have an ice cream cone with no regard to nutrition? Is that the sin of gluttony?

A pure man in perfect union with God no doubt eats, sleeps, and procreates as an expression of divine glory. That is the ideal. But an ordinary man can have a hint of the divine when he has sex, and I think that is only for the good.
