Beijing, 2 July: Recently, some Hong Kong people held rallies. Taiwan's "Mainland Affairs Council [MAC]" seized the opportunity and attacked and defamed the policy of "one country, two systems". A Xinhua reporter interviewed an official of the Information Bureau under the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.

The official said: Since Hong Kong returned to the motherland, the central government has been comprehensively implementing the policy of "one country, two systems". Hong Kong compatriots have become masters of their own affairs and been enjoying, according to law, a wide range of democratic rights that they never had before the reversion. These are widely acknowledged facts. By seizing the opportunity that some Hong Kong people held rallies, Taiwan's "MAC" made irresponsible remarks on Hong Kong affairs and wantonly attacked the policy of "one country, two systems" that the central government has been comprehensively implementing in Hong Kong since its reversion. Taiwan's "MAC" attempted to use the opportunity to facilitate the requirements for promoting "Taiwan independence" separatist activities. It has made erroneous calculations and its scheme will be futile.

Tawain's scheme to maintain independence will be futile.

So much for "becoming masters of their own affairs".

They never had before?

Leading Cadres, shaking in boots.
Any successful challenge to their authority and it's all over for them.
