All this whining and trying to CYA is not a model of a very modern general.

So this is what our modern military has come to; freakin' Patton's gotta be spinning in his grave.

Karpinski appears to be an incompetent traitor. I've tried looking up her military record, but it's hard to pin down who promoted her. She was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1977, served in some capacity in the First Gulf War, and retired into the Reserves in 1987, where she is said to have served in some sort of intelligence capacity. It's not clear who promoted her up to Brigadier. That's a very high rank for somebody with only 10 years of active service. I suspect clinton did the heavy promoting, but all of her RA service seems to have preceded clinton, so who knows?

In any case, she is an incompetent commander with lax discipline over her troops and an inability to keep her mouth shut.

I agree Rumsfeld should get a raise. But from what I have seen so far the interrogation tactics don't seem to be harsh enough.

I guess she's dredging up all of the leftists' and media's boogeymen and flinging the dirt. Earlier today she was blaming the Jooos. By tomorrow I guess she'll be claiming that Halliburton execs were there as well.

For somebody who says she didn't know what was going on at the prison during her watch, she seems to be making an awful lot of claims about it now.

Kerry and media pals will ride this horse until Nov.. WE'll have phrenologist experts next, examining the bumps on Rumsfeld's head (by photo), as proof that he's a monster. Can we all spell witch hunt???

Ping. Is there no end to this disgrace's lunacy? It's now a watch to see just how deep she can dig the hole she's standing in.

I see here that she actually has also tried to blame the JOOOOOOOOOoooos, and now is swinging that dead cat at SecDef.

Just outrageous. I hope the Court Martial judge takes it ALL into account. She needs to be a big example to other commanders.

So much for "gender norming" and social promotion in the military. This woman should owe up to her responsibility for her negligence in supervising the activities at the prison and basically take it like a man.

Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski on abuse at Abu Ghraib prison:Officer Suggests Iraq Jail Abuse Was Encouraged

"I was sick to my stomach when I saw pictures of what those soldiers were doing in that prison," Karpinski said.

Why didnt she go further up the chain of command if she even went ?

In an interview with the St. Petersburg Times, Army Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski says that for many of the prisoners “living conditions now are better in prison than at home. At one point we were concerned they wouldn't want to leave.” But when asked for details on the detention of top Baath Party officials, she would only say that they were being detained under “appropriate arrangements.” [St. Petersburg Times, 12/14/2003]

In his 53-page report, Maj. Gen. Antonio M. Taguba offers a blistering attack on Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski's leadership.

No kidding - it seems like everyone in the known universe was at that prison at one time or another, except for her.
