It's going to be the best 4th in a long time for me. But in a way bittersweet because friends are still in harms way this year.

Last year I called my daughter and was telling her what we were doing in baghdad on the 4th and she asked me "did you guys shoot off fireworks?" I told her no we didn't and that it had been pretty quiet. There was a pause and she said "I guess that's a GOOD thing over there huh?"

I hadn't laughed that much in a long long time. And then I told her that YES it was a good thing for me that it had been quiet!

I can imagine that was funny. And yes, it is a good thing when it's all quiet. Thank you for serving. And how old's the daughter?
