Swedish pastor sentenced to one month's jail for offending homosexuals

Stockholm (ENI). A Swedish court has sentenced a pastor belonging to the Pentecostal movement in Sweden, Ake Green, to a month in prison, under a law against incitement, after he was found guilty of having offended homosexuals in a sermon.

Soren Andersson, the president of the Swedish federation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights (RFSL), said on hearing the sentence that religious freedom could never be used as a reason to offend people. "Therefore," he told journalists, "I cannot regard the sentence as an act of interference with freedom of religion."

During a sermon in 2003, Green described homosexuality as "abnormal, a horrible cancerous tumour in the body of society".

Joe, all of these things make me more and more fully convicted that my choice to Follow Christ was the only right and proper one. All that is needed is a successful demagogue, and Bin Ladin may be the walkin' dude himself. I only hope that God will give me the power to martyr myself with glory to Him when the appointed time comes.

I wonder if this is the same fellow who has appeared in a number of Coral Ridge
(D. James Kennedy) specials...commenting on the likelihood he'd be
prosecuted given new speech codes.

What good is religious freedom if a pastor can't speak out against sin? Had he been an Imam, the Swedegenerates wouldn't have done this.

All of this and we somehow can't call the horrendus Carr murders in Wichita a hate crime. Good point! But in liberal jurisprudence in KS, I think it's outlawed to suggest taht there ever be B on W hate crimes, only W on B.

Perhaps Bill Cosby better start looking over his shoulder for the Thought Police too! You read his comments in the news today? He at least has the guts to speak out on what is WRONG! I was impressed...

if we had lost WWII there would be no homosexuals in Europe at all.

Except for those at the top of the Nazi party.

The gay activists truly are thought police fascists!

Good job gay activists and fellow-travelers!
You're the kind of factor that needs to come along occassionally and
revive Christianity.
Sweden sure is a good spot for a bit of oppression to get the church moving again!

I'm offended by all of the Civil Rights Act celebrations today assuming that I'm racist because I'm white, and that progressive liberals passed the Act (it was the minority party Republicans who got it through, over the objections of Al Gore Sr and Robert "Sheets" Byrd.) Can we have those events cancelled, too? And the Black Expos, too? I didn't think so. It only matters when when politically correct group are offended... so much for Equal Protection.

Black on white crime is not a hate crime ANY WHERE.

I did hear some of Cosby's remarks while out at lunch time. He's right. I hope someone listens.

Let me know when a homosexual activist is jailed for offending a straight person.

Oh, but that would be...intolerant.

"This will happen here if we let it."

Do you all really think this will happen here or will there be Civil War II first?

The suicide rate in Sweden is the highest in Europe and one can't help but wonder if the large gaggle of homosexuals are the ones offing themselves.

If you consider that homosexuality, especially among males, is often found to co-exist with a poor relationship between father and son and what other effects such a poor relationship with a parent can have, this is very possible. It's also worth noting that there seem to be (read: I've not done any formal research nor read any) an unrepresentatively large percentage of persons who self-injure who are also homosexuals, especially lesbians. (Although, you will find that most information on self-injury conviently doesn't seem to mention homosexuality.)

Good point! I'm sure Ake Green is offended by the judgement against him. Will the judge, and those who brought the charges against him, be up on charges next?
