After reading the proclamation (not directive, as I thought) posted above, I guess you could argue the 4th based on time of death. But where I live (VA) he was alive on the morning of 5 June, and I put my flag up in the morning. :-)

The important thing is we proudly fly our flags. And if one really wants to do the correct thing, take a peek at how the nearest government installation is flying its flag that Independence Day morning.

The proclomation states that his death occurred on June 5. I don't see anyway to argue that he died on June 4...besides, 30 days from that date would carry through July 4, until the colors are retired for that day.
