You mean his foray into depictions of pedophilia, anal sex, and other such porn (ala Pink Flamingos) didn't bother you? He may have been a good actor, but what a very sad and wretched character he was.
If your respect is based upon one's belief in God, I question the value of what your respect is worth. There are many people who use a belief in God in the same way they would use a secret handshake. I prefer to give respect to those who are honest in their actions rather than their words.
