Well, in all fairness to him, I think paying for his son's defense in a murder trial took the biggest toll.

Which is one of the reasons they run through their money so quickly -- employing a large staff of flunkies is expensive. Move stars also tend to go through spouses almost as often as they go through their socks, so there are payoffs to irate ex-spouses and child support. There's the high cost of good liquor, drugs, rehab, etc., as well.
Hollyweirdos seem to think that their success will last forever -- they don't put aside for the proverbial "rainy day."
