To: Movie theaters across the fruited plain We, the undersigned, recognize that though our nation is not perfect, far too many negative stories about America are being raised in the media. Often times, the crafters of this garbage stretch the truth in order to paint an extremely unfair picture of what America is. Michael Moores new film is just the latest media jab at President Bush and his noble efforts to protect Americans from those who cowardly wear masks and behead human beings in an effort to impose their way of life on all non-believers.
We believe that the Arnot Malls Regal Entertainment Cinemas and many others across the country should carry the movie Americas Heart and Soul, which is a true documentary and accurately depicts what our great nation stands for.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
TOPICS: Miscellaneous; News/Current Events; US: New York
KEYWORDS: american; genuine; heartandsoul; quality
After hearing about this movie and seeing the trailer, I just HAVE TO do whatever I can to help get this seen, especially over Moore's hunk of junk. I'm taking the day off from painting my apartment duplex tomorrow to get signatures on paper, and figured that you guys would be able to help online to get something started.
PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. WE NEED TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD THAT WE APPRECIATE WHOLESOME AMERICAN MOVIES AND REJECT THE FANTASIES OF THE LEFTY DECEPTIONISTS.

I'd settle for an honest documentary which fairly portrayed the Carter and Reagan Administrations. Including a fair treatment of
journalism's coverage of them.
- inflation got bad enough to cause me to tell my wife to stock up on nonperishable merchandise before prices went up further.
- unemployment was high and the Dow was below 1000, a decade after it had first reached that level.
- Iran was an American ally under the shah; Carter pulled the plug on him and would not even allow him to get treatment for cancer in America.
- Hello, Ayatollah! Goodbye, US embassy!
- waiting in interminable lines for gasoline - and hoping there would be some by the time you reached the station.
- Flash forward to present day free Russian and Polish discussion of the Gulag and of Kaitlyn Forrest. Then back to:
- Soviet influence expanding, especially in Africa.
- Carter decries American "inordinate fear of Communism."
- Carter's "malaise" speech (he never used that word BTW).
- Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
- Reagan makes radio addresses of his own composition on the issues of the day.
- Journalists and other Democrats sneering at "Right Wing Cold Warriors" - Reagan, most of all.
- Flashback to Governor Reagan hosting parties for Vietnam vets while the Democrats were protesting all things military - emphatically including the veterans.
- Flashback to Kerry receiving medals for valor, then subsequently wearing ribbons on fatigues and throwing ribbons over the WH fence.
- Flashback to GHWB being rescued after his plane was shot down, then forward to the funeral of a pilot killed in an operational training accident flying a fighter jet of the type used by the Texas Air National Guard, then forward to GWB deciding to enter the Air National Guard.
- Reagan wins landslide, is inaugurated, sends Carter in AF1 to greet US embassy personnel returning from Iran captivity.
- Reagan is shot.
- Reagan breaks Dr.'s orders to clean up a mess he made in the hospital.
- Congress passes Reagan Kemp Roth after watering it down from three 10% tax cuts to one 5% cut followed by two 10% cuts.
- Reagan calls the Soviet Union "an Evil Empire," and is roundly criticized.
- inflation abates but there is a recession; midterm elections favor Democrats somewhat.
- gasoline prices soften with no lines.
- economy bottoms out and starts to progress.
- Reagan supports Solidarity, which manages to survive Communist attempts at repression.
- East German succeeds in escaping to West Germany.
- US invades Grenada; Reagan is criticized but the medical students are televised kissing US soil upon their return home.
- Contras illegally aided; flash forward to the Carter-supervised election to which Sandinista submit. Communists are defeated by 80%-20%.
- Mario Cuomo makes a hit with a keynote speech at the DNC viewing the economy with alarm; Mondale promises to raise taxes.
- Economy continues to progress; Reagan wins every state but Minnesota.
- Reagan proposes SDI and is roundly criticized.
- Gorbachev struggles with the specter of a firm US commander-in-chief backed by tax revenues suddenly approaching double that seen under Carter. Gorbachev tries to negotiate away the SDI plan; Reagan refuses and is roundly criticized.
- Reagan demands the elimination of the Berlin Wall, and is roundly criticized.
- GHWB inaugurated.
- Berlin Wall falls.
- Warsaw Pact and then the USSR implode.
- Clinton inaugurated.
- Reagan's Alzheimer's letter is published.
- GWB inaugurated.
- 2000 election results recounted ad nauseum without overturning the legitimacy of the result.
- Reagan's passing is commemorated with national affection and grief. Thatcher sums it up by saying that we no longer have Ronald Reagan, "but we have something Ronald Reagan never had. We have his example."
Apparently "Fahrenheit" is a talking-head picture; the script I've outlined could probably be done in that mode rather quickly and economically. And it would have the great advantage of being true. And could be rerun interminably on the History Channel.

I'd settle for an honest documentary which fairly portrayed the Carter
an in-depth coverage of how Carter got lots of people killed in Iran and got the
ball rolling for the Islamic revolution (giving them a country with lots of
oil revenue) would make me happy...

Only one theater in the San Diego area showing this movie. Outrageous. Where's Disney's clout? I'm so pissed off. But I plan on seeing this movie today or tomorrow and I'll report back.
