I don’t care what you or anyone else thinks. Go start a fight with someone else.

Yep, convenient isn’t it. I gave him too much credit. Oh, well, he is making the case for us being correct.

What else do you consider to be similarities between Bush and Hitler?

You would be smart to let this go. Pinging us is not a wise move. Especially in light of your stupid comment.

I'm sure your remarks did not intend to mean you wished you had Al Gore or John Kerry at the Bully Pulpit. But saying the Electors of President Bush shoudn't recognize his accomplishments at this crucial time, and even mentioning Nazi Germany in the same vein, will garner a response.

I do not support the amnesty bill.

You should reply in public, not private.

Ok, I’ll reply since you are asking.

I believe the point that was being made was along the lines of “those who fail to study history are bound to repeat it.”

Now, you took the post as a Direct Comparison between Hitler and Bush. (were you just looking for a fight today?)

I have been a Bush supporter since he was elected. I am very pleased with most of the accomplishments listed in this thread.

With that said, I am very concerned about his desire to force this immigration bill down our throats. He has called me personally an ignorant bigot who wants to kill little babies (ok, maybe not his exact words). All because I have a different opinion on this bill.

His lack of enforcement of the Border Fence bill from last year has me troubled.

All that the poster was saying was that we need to examine all of our representatives and stand up to them when we believe they are going down the wrong path. Or else we could end up like Germany under Hitler.

Perhaps a comparison to the Pied Piper...or lemmings..or...I don’t know..some comparison that would express the concept without invoking the name of Adolph Hitler.

Do you see what I mean?

Okay, read the posts through from the beginning. You will see no comparison was made of Bush to Hitler. Is that better?

You will see no comparison was made of Bush to Hitler.

If you're willing to step away from that comparison now, it's fine with me. Consider it dropped as far as I am concerned.

But don't insult my intelligence by trying to claim it didn't happen.

I am proud to call George W. Bush my president. I don’t agree with everything he’s done (especially on spending and immigration), but overall he’s been the second best president we’ve had in the last 50 years, after Reagan.

I agree that Pied Piper might have been preferable.

I also believe that it was misread and reacted to in a hysterical fashion.

People always need to question the people in charge. If this was a Democrat, no one would have disagreed. On this issue, Bush and the Democrats are working together.

That alone deserves questioning the reasons and the outcome. Almost all of us have been on Bushes side in the past, he has left the reservation.

I didn’t make any comparison, but in an effort to stop the trouble, I am done with it.

You are ignorant if you can’t understand the comment.

O.K. So help me. When indylindy said in #66:

Idiots blindly follow without questioning the intentions of the person they follow.

You didn't think he was talking about Bush ("the person they follow") and supporters of Bush (the "idiots" who "blindly follow")? And therefore when you directly responded in #67 with:

The Germans thought Adolph Hitler was a great leader, and they followed him.

Even though, since this was the entirety of your post, and therefore

  1. Your "The Germans" must have been the analog to indylindy's "the 'idiots' who 'blindly follow'," and
  2. Your "Hitler" must have been the analog to indylindy's "the person they follow,"
you weren't making a comparison between Bush and Hitler?

It follows then that, despite this being a thread about Bush, you must have thought indylindy was talking about someone other than Bush and his followers, or you must have thought that he was making some absolutely general comment, unrelated to Bush, in a thread about Bush.

So which was it?

Did you think indylindy was referring to someone other than Bush and his supporters? If so, who?

Or did you think that -- right in the middle of a thread specifically about Bush, AND in responding with quotes to someone who said they "love Bush," AND then making a reference to Mexico, AND then reiterating the "love" theme with a comment about love being blind -- indylindy suddenly, in the very next sentence, without any transition, suddenly offered the "idiots blindly follow" comment as a completely general musing not specifically referencing Bush?

I am in complete agreement about the president - I’m at once enraged, heartbroken and baffled.

I REACT when I see Hitler or Nazi. Hysteria? Not quite- but visceral, yes.

I worry when we don’t question our leaders, even while supporting them- (which in this case I can’t) without arguing, democracy fades!
