I live in the Socialist County of Santa Cruz. About 15 years ago they outlawed the public fireworks on the Fourth of July. They also won't let the Navy ship dock here any more. They even tried to keep the Navy Band from playing at the Boardwalk. It's a tyranny of America haters here.

I just can't imagine that. MN (and I believe IA) doesn't allow the public to shoot off their own fireworks, so every June there are fireworks businesses set up along the borders to sell the latest fun stuff. I and a group of friends get together for BBQ, beer, and we pool our money together every year for a big collection of fireworks and have a real blowout for the kids (big ones as well as little ones).

Oh that's rediculous!! Though I do have to say, as you travel up the coast it only gets progressively a little better. In Oregon (or at least Portland) you can't have any fireworks that leave the ground (meaning only sparklers and whistling/annoying things) - then cross the river into Washington and you can at least shoot them into the air! Guess how many people drive accross the river, buy the good ones, and come back.... he he he he

Yeah I hear you.. I moved about 8 months ago from the Monterey area to Pahrump Nevada. We got fireworks stores open all years round here. You name it, you can buy it here. I am going to have FUN this year! Sorry to hear they wont even let ya do the "safe and sane" fireworks. They at least used to allow those in the Monterey area.
