My Letter to the Chicago Tribune (VANITY)

Posted on 06/30/2004 7:24:29 AM PDT by thepatriot1

I seem to remember just last week this very newspaper did everything in its power to have the divorce records of Jack Ryan, a Republican, made public. I believe the reason was that there was a compelling public interest. This paper went so far as to sue to have the records released. As we all know, Jack Ryan's political career has been ended for intents and purposes because of this public interest. Now John Kerry, a Democrat, has publicly and adamantly refused to release the records from his two divorces and we don't here a word about it from the Tribune. Wouldn't the public interest be even more compelling for someone who is running for the highest office in our government? Looks like the Trib has an agenda of its own.

And, don't forget, no less than the almighty Associated Press is suing for W's military records which have been in the public domain for years. I think a good editor would file this under "selective reporting."

I am sure he was divorced from reality when he came back from his bandaid stint in Vietnam. Still is, from all accounts.

Ooops!!! Thought I had heard he was divorced twice. Guess I should check my facts. I rescinded the letter to the Trib and submitted an edited version. Thanks for the heads up!!

I read the Tribune!!!! I DO hope it gets published!!!!!!!! They are a "bit" slanted over there, I think......and, over the years, seem to have moved MORE to the left on every issue!!

A few weeks ago, a leftist wrote to the paper saying that leftists were also patriotic and cited the Lincoln Brigade and FDR. Here was my response (note that I had to work hard to reduce it from almost 500 words to the required 200 word max.

--------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Turcotte writes the "Left" via the Abe Lincoln Brigade (ABL) fought Fascism. He fails to mention that the ALB was mostly communists and socialist, organized under Stalin. They enabled the brutal murders of many anti-fascists who opposed Stalinism. The Veterans of ALB has a memorial to George Watt, leader of the communist anti-War National Student League.

Mr. Turcotte fails to mention that the "Left" were protesting to keep us out of the war and in support of Hitler! When Hitler attacked Stalin, the “Left” then supported Stalin against Hitler.

He fails to mention that Roosevelt’s VP was Mr. Wallace who supported Stalin. It was the conservatives in the Democratic Party that were able to overturn Wallace's nomination. If the "Left" had their way, we would have had a Stalin sympathizer as President! Mr. Roosevelt appointed Wallace as Secretary of Agriculture where the spy, Alger Hiss worked for Wallace.

He cites the "Left" for opposing totalitarianism in Europe and Asia. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The "Left" has always opposed our efforts at fighting totalitarianism and supported the communists. It was the conservatives and President Reagan that defeated totalitarianism in Europe and Asia, not Wallace and the "Left".

I just heard on WLS radio that P. Fitzgerald is saying he thinks it was George Ryan's cronies, and they specifically mentioned Topinka ( the one they favor as the next Republican canidate for Gov no less), as being behind the release of J. Ryan's divorce record. I don't know if it's true or just another media hit piece trying to divide the party and deflect the heat the media is taking for this. Maybe their sales are down. WLS TV also was in on the suit to release the records. I don't believe any of them anymore.
