I still stand by my original idea that I posted on FR I don't know how long ago.

America should sign into law numerous free trade agreements. Instead of 4 or 5, I am talking 50 or more that we have negotiated.

For those countries not holding and FTA in hand, they get 3 times the tarriffs and those with one get no tarriffs to speak of.

It will force the rest of the world to negotiate with us.

See, you're not thinking like a CEO politician. The goal here isn't to make the US wealthy by raising all our standards of living -- the goal here is to make businesses that outsource their labor to those countries and sell their products back into the US wealthy.

I also noticed that Don Evans didn't once mention human rights in respect to China. I suppose we all have our compartmentalization -- Clinton with sex and our administration with human rights.

Agreed, I've sometimes wondered what all those bureaucrats in the Commerce Department do. Either a country grants equal access to its markets or we apply equal barriers.
