I want their mothers to be able to admonish them with

and that will be enough to reduce them to quivering obesience.

I want the annihilation to be so complete that their mythology
will tell them of the day of judgment when the stern gods from across the sea
.. the powerful 'Mericans .. destroyed their forefathers' wickedness.

Call me cynical... but I am not yet convinced that this whole episode is not a hoax.
But it just doesn't pass the "smell test."

This Marine was UA to begin with.

And I am not yet convinced that he is not a turncoat.
So let's not get our dander up yet.

And don't be surprised if there is a beheading but be very suspicious that the terrorists don't take off this Marine's uniform and put it on a dead person and behead him...

Unfortunately, the marines have to work within the limits set by their commanders. I don't doubt that the marines were already prepared to do what needed to be done even before the beheading. But they were leashed.

The Marines in Iraq don't dare to seek vengeance. When they were ready at Fallujah, they were pulled back. When they are ready to avenge a Marine death, they'll be called way back and told to behave.

If any individual Marine dares to go ahead and seek revenge, he will be court-martialed, like the Army guys at Abu Graibh.

Nothing will happen. Our Marines are so hamstrung from the Political Correctness BS, that our Marines can't do anything or they will be prosecuted. Don't you remember some prisoners had panties put on their heads! And now our military is going to be tried for war crimes! The only thing left to do is check with your lawyer before you shoot. If GWB sent a nuke somewhere he would go to jail for war crimes. We have killed our own country. :(
