I was astonished at how even on this most joyous day for the Iraqi people, Kerry simply cannot make a statement congratulating them on their sovereignty and their freedom, but couches all of his statements in political terms in a manner meant once again to criticise President Bush. He could have put partisanship aside for one moment and simply given a warm statement of congratulations to the Iraqis but that was apparently not within his ability.
The American people are not stupid...they will remember things like this in November, and Kerry will lose in a monumental landslide.

"I hope the President will be successful." I wonder if he means that in any sense, even the churlish one in which it was offered.

It is absolutely stunning that of the $18 billion that we approved last year for the reconstruction of Iraq, only $400 million has been spent. Um, didn't he vote against that?

I want to start by saying that our troops have conducted military operations with extraordinary courage and skill. Wonder how long before he accuses them of being war criminals...?

Not only did he miss an opportunity to congratulate and wish the Iraqis well, he uses the fact that Bush HASN'T spent all the money they whined about approving.
He thinks Americans are going to complain about that?

Who would be suprised? These people lust after power, not a love of country nor a desire to serve. All things are secondary to getting in power. Nothing can distract them from the objective: Personal power and all the trappings that go with it.It's simple. Anything, any person or any concept that stands between them and their objective is, by definition, an enemy.

Kerry is no Clinton. Clinton knew the value of not always being predictable and the value in appearing strong enough to be able to congratulate an enemy who wins a battle of the day. Clinton had an air of confidence that he didn't have to trash his enemy every single day and he could disengage for a minute or two.
After the 1994 Republican victory Clinton and the dems waited and bided their time. Every dog has its day after all. Then like patient communists they seized the offensive later after the party had worn itself out.
If Kerry were smart he wouldn't have played politics on this important day. He would have given Bush his due, thanked the military and, especially, thanked Iraq and encouraged the people of Iraq. (What about them?) Then start firing off pot shots tommorrow. But no. Kerry aimlessly squanders bullets and credibility.

Hey Yaaaaaawn Cut & Ran Kerry, Republican Presidents have Freed a half Billion people from your Communist prison/death camps. Freedom is something that is truly appreciated by those that never have had it, like the North Vietnamese!
Pray for W and The Iraqis

An entire statement and not once did he mention that he served in Vietnam. Amazing. Is that a first?
