Statement by Hispanic Members of Congress to Set the Record Straight on John Kerrys Lack of Commitment to the Latino Community (title edited for length)
Arlington, VA - John Kerrys speech at the annual convention of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) today is sure to be the latest stop in his misery tour spreading doom and gloom nationwide. The Massachusetts Senator will continue to spread his pessimism, levy false allegations, and make empty promises to the Hispanic community. But no speech or policy paper can substitute for Kerrys 19-year record of standing on the wrong side of the most critical issues confronting our community.
John Kerry has done little to nothing for Latinos during his Senate career and his campaign is doing little to court Latino voters on the campaign trail. It is no surprise recognizing his well- publicized vulnerabilities with Latinos that Senator Kerrys attacks on President Bushs record of accomplishment is his central message to Hispanics. The Kerry campaigns outreach efforts depend almost solely on outside groups to build its Latino grassroots operation, showcasing Kerrys inability to connect with Hispanic voters.
Latinos should not trust or expect Kerry to change one iota if elected President.
Statement is signed by Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Henry Bonilla, Lincoln Díaz-Balart, Mario Díaz-Balart, and Devin Nunes.
Tomorrow Kerry will speak to Rainbow-Push Coalition. I wonder if he will mention that black unemployment is lower now than it was after first term of Clinton? Nah....
Sad, but true, unless he needs to marry a rich Hispanic widow at some point.
I honestly cannot stand looking at or listening to Mr. Gloom and Doom Kerry today. He really does look like the talking tree on the Wizard of Oz.
Excuse me, but what is this whole question of "committment to the Latino community" supposed to mean? I thought conservatives were supposed to be above crude identity politics. I thought we were all supposed to be "Americans." Basically what I hear from President Bush is "We are going to out-program, out-spend, and out-pander the Democrats." Wonderful.
You hear that because that's what you want to hear.

$710.96... The price of freedom.
This tells you the differnece between east and west coasts. In the east, "latino" has meant either puerto rican or illegal alien from south america.
HISPANIC was the proper term for native spanish speakers.
Latino was regarded as uneducated low class.
Interesting how the left tries to foist the changes.
Hey, many of Flipper John's palatial mansions employ Hispanics, some of them legally, to do menial labor. Kerry knows how to treat Hispanics!
