A new type of ultrasound scan has produced the vivid pictures of a 12 week-old foetus "walking" in the womb.
The new images also show foetuses apparently yawning and rubbing its eyes.
The scans, pioneered by Professor Stuart Campbell at London's Create Health Clinic, are much more detailed than conventional ultrasound.
Professor Campbell has previously released images of unborn babies appearing to smile.

The images have shown:
* From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement
* From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks
* From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking.
Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth.

I believe that just about any mother could have told you that! My daughter refused any kind of contact when she was in the womb. If I placed my hand on her, she would kick hard. I never got an ultrasound of her, all we could ever see was her foot! She's now almost 15 and she still stiffens if you hug her. Her brother loved being patted and caressed before birth. 9 years later he does not miss a chance to crawl in my lap for a hug. Their behavior has not changed since then!
Yep. Much better than the aborted fetus pictures.

True you can't tell from a still image, but moving image would probably make it somewhat clearer as to wether this was an intentional motion.

Although there was no ultr-sound at the time, I was convinced that each of my 5 were so active that they were jitter bugging!
In the midst of a Yankee game she decided that sideways was the best position and she wasn't gonna move.....no way, no no no.....and that's pretty much the way she is to this day. STUBBORN!!!!!!
