Does Atkins affect likelihood of conception? Uh... duh, Yeah! Losing 50 pounds can make anyone MUCH more likely to reproduce! Right... women who are significantly overweight are much less likely to conceive, and of course have the high risk of gestational diabetes if they do conceive.

Women with PCOS are also likely to be overweight, so the connection between weight and fertility may be due to PCOS, which causes infertility. PCOS is quite real and women who have it can lose weight on a low-carb diet but often have a lot of trouble losing weight on more traditional diets. It also doesn't help that women are waiting until later in life to have children.
