Does anyone care anymore?

I am in a foul mood.

Blame the so-called service industry -- supermarket clerks, car rental companies and even those responsible for my morning cup of coffee.

This service society makes the old days of smoke-belching steel plants and striking pickets outside the gates look good. The last straw was the coffee.

Wow, he's a little late to the game. Bad service stretches back to, oh, say, just after the Ice Age. Must have been one helluva revelation...

Lowest prices, convenience and great services is what people want - sometimes you can't have all three...

I don't know. I find that if you smile first, most service workers will smile back. If you say a kind word to them, they will be appreciative. Takes a nanosecond, but it changes the whole mood.

You hit the nail on the head. It's truly incredible what a genuinely friendly smile and demeanor will do to people.

Here’s what I care about... the ridiculously, intentionally Blind Media Crybabies who only write about their own liberal agenda crap.

That's why I started Fuppet Wars. (A 'fuppet' is a finger puppet).

You can print them out and wear them or put them on desks or public bulletin boards. Just copy, paste and print. It should automatically printout the right size:

I have to agree with the man who wrote the article. Service has gone down, waaaaay down. My mother came to visit from California a month ago. We were in the grocery store checking out and the cashier was showing us pictures of her daughter, talking about their fishing trip, and even wished us a good day as we left. My mother stood there with no expression on her face. The women turned to me and said "She isn't from here is she?". My mother turned to her and said "No, I am from California". LOL. There is some friendly service left, but it is so far and few between, that most people don't even know how to handle it. :)

I was in a family restaurant a few years ago with a 2 year old grandchild who spilled a full glass of water. It went all over the table.the seat, and the floor.

The waitress came running over with a rag and HANDED IT TO ME!!!!!!

I cleaned up and never went back.

Excuse me, but I would have done the same thing. You bring a two year old child to a restaurant, she spills water on YOUR table, and the busy waitress is supposed to come and clean it up when you could do it yourself. I guess I'm different, but I would have INSISTED on cleaning it up myself.

like who really cares about the other guy's situation? if he has more money than I, then that is HIS good fortune. I was taught not to envy.

that includes things like whos' babe is hotter, who's car is faster, etc. etc. etc.

in minding my own business, I don't fret the other guy.

Don't read this if you're having lunch.

A few years back my infant son and I made a stop in a fast food place on our way to visit my parents. He was just finishing a bottle when he projectile vomited all over me, the table, the floor, everywhere. I think every single person in that place came to my aid. We were rushed to the restroom where we were both wiped down with paper towels. When we returned to the table, everything had been cleaned up and was back to normal. Reading my mind, several patrons said "don't be embarrassed honey, everything's just fine." It was an incredible outpouring of compassion by complete strangers, staff and all.

And that's what I love about the South.

There is Good in the # of unemployed! Most of those who are unemployed should stay that way! Service jobs are those which suck up the last of those that really don't want to work but have no more Gov't bene's left! Full employment sux!

A classic story in my family was an incident when we were in a resturant sometime in the late 60's. It was a small "diner" style place, and the entire resturant staff were back in the kitchen talking about something. Customers came in, sat down, got tired of waiting and left.

My dad was a supermarket supervisor, and had a great "command" authority. After about 10-15 minutes, he marched himself back in the kitchen and said "what are you people doing back here"? "Get out there are wait on the customers".

The funny part was they jumped up like the CEO of the corporation just caught them at something.

We got our food.

Bad service has been around a long time.
