Just heard a little bit of Brokaw a few minutes ago. He was already being negative. How did he spin it to be negative?

I forget which word he used but it was negative. I've got the sound down low and didn't hear the whole thing since my two year old snuck down and is sleeping in his little chair.

My guess: "They're cutting and running to save face and for political points"... but that is a stretch even for them
You have to understand, this was going to be spun negatively no matter what, I was worried about it. It was gonna be called a "quagmire" and "handover in name only" if they did anything but pull out 100% of the troops by then. In the fantasy case that they DID pull out all of the troops, it'd be a "cut and run". Got it?
But Bush managed not only to make this happen early (thus suggesting that things are proceeding very smoothly there), but also efficiently squelch the media focus on Moore's movie indefinitely.
Politically, this accomplished more than spending a hundred million dollars on ads.

(Bush waited six minutes to react. Clinton waited eight years to react.)
