I think our Ambassador has already presented his credentials to Iraq's President. We will still play a major role in Iraq for some years to come. Today was a milestone but the country has yet to have its first free elections. The violence makes holding them impossible for the forseeable future.

I heard a report somewhere over the weekend that regular Iraqis are tired of all the violence and are starting to take action.

If the Iranians and Syrians don't shape up, you can bet on it. We must continue to provide our support to Iraq and help to protect her sovereignty. We must stand side by side and ensure her borders are safe, up to and including war against both Iran and Syria, It could get quite interesting in such a case, with perhaps some other countries which do not care for Syria joining in as de facto allies - read into this what you may.
