TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN:

At June's end, a defense bill that had a "Hate Crimes Bill" amendment attached passed in the Senate. That means the next step for this legislation is the House. The House defense authorization bill containing the offensive amendment is H.R. 4200.

We urge you to oppose such legislation. As your constituent, I categorically do not support the "hate crimes" amendment to H.R. 4200.

The history of such legislation elsewhere demonstrates an astonishing, deleterious effect on free speech: (1) A Canadian was charged with "hate speech" for quoting Bible verses: (2) An Australian pastor was arrested for "hate speech" for expressing his sincerely held beliefs.

We do not want or need such legislation in the US. Thank you for your actions to protect our constitutional rights, and to safeguard our families.

TO MR DELAY:
