Start with the sanitization of the Trade Center site. I found it quite unsettling that supposedly all there was to see was concrete rubble and glass. Why do I need a big brother in the government and media to decide what is too much reality, then switch back to Freddy Krueger after the news?
One of my best friends is a ham radio operator who went to NY immediately after the attack on 9/11 as part of the Red Cross team. He said the shots on TV were EXTREMELY sanitized. The thing he remembers most is the smell. He had nightmares for months after. Rarely talks about it now, just like my father who was an eye witness to Pearl Harbor, but has only told the story 3 times that I remember.
