Patti Smith does good, if not great (Concert was a Bush bashing fest)
Chicago Tribune/Metromix ^ | June 26, 2004 | Greg Kot

Posted on 06/26/2004 6:14:26 AM PDT by Land_of_Lincoln_John

The two-hour set was loosely organized around a protest theme that had genuine moments of insight and power. But by the end of the night, Smith's viewpoints about President Bush, the war in Iraq and the forthcoming election smacked of overkill, if not preaching to the converted.

The Chicago Sun-Times review was similar. I couldn't find anywhere the specifics of what she said.

Where did they did this skanky dinosauress up from? I didn't even know she was still alive.

All a remember of her is that album cover with her and her hairy, stinky armpits.

Dang - did they really put scratch-n-sniff armpits on her album cover ???

In an Islamic State she would have been stoned to death years ago.

I'd be shocked if Patti Smith supported GWB or the war in Iraq or anything of the kind. It's just not it her portfolio.

But I'll always cut her slack for the underarm hair and her 60's political beliefs: she does the best rock 'n roll concerts I've ever seen. In fact, when she gets the audience running with her stream-of-consciousness raps it is a sight to behold. Someone once called her concerts "transcendant," and that about sums it up.

What's a Patti Smith? Sounds like something you'd order for breakfast at International House of Pancakes.

She blows the swinette: 2 hairs stretched tight across a hog's ass.

OK - granted, I've hardly heard of her, let alone been to one of her concerts. Still, I'd be willing to make a sizable bet that I wouldn't consider any part of her concerts "transcendant".

There is a Patti Smith running for judge in Alabama.

I went to college with her when her name was Mungenast. Can't blame her for marrying someone with such an inoffensive name. She is a Republican.

Are there two Patti (Patty) Smiths, one married to John McEnroe and this one?

Wow, Patti Smith should be President. She is so smart.
Everybody should listen to old, coke-whore-chic has-beens like Patti Smith.
