NEWMARKET-ON-FERGUS, Ireland (AP) - Dromoland Castle's presidential suite in west Ireland offers luxurious accommodations for the rich and the powerful, but privacy sometimes is in short supply.
President Bush, on an overnight stay in the $1,500-a-night suite, was spotted by television cameras as he was standing in a T-shirt at his window. He was visible from the waist up, apparently as he was changing clothes.
An embarrassed Irish government quickly tried to prevent the release of the images.
A notice to the news media said, ``The host broadcaster inadvertently transmitted pictures of President Bush at the window of Dromoland Castle. These pictures are the property of the Irish presidency and must not be used for transmission by any service.''
In April 1998, a news camera zooming in on President Clinton's hotel suite in Dakar, Senegal captured images of him chomping a cigar, tapping an African drum and strumming a guitar.
Personally, I'm more worried about the security implications.
Bush in a t-shirt couldn't be any worse than Bubba Clinton in his jogging clothes...goodness knows we saw enough of that in his term...
And Dubya DOESN'T have Bubba's beer-gut!
I say no biggie.
I'll second that and add a large dose of disrespect being shown by the irish media.
Pics! Pics! I want Pics! LOL
I caught the intereview with the female Irish correspondent lat night on C-span..W told her to shut up and stop interrupting him at least 10 times..she was awful..
I saw that too...disgusting
ping
Geez. What is the Secret Service thinking.
If the media could take shots, so could terrorists.
A President should never be at a window that someone can see into.
LoL
The Irish media are being, well, Irish. The disrespect runs deep, and calling on their better natures is whistling in the wind.
The security aspect is much more serious. There are factions out there that would dearly love to take down the American Presidency, and had the camera been a sniper scope, that was an upper body shot.
Sometimes, it makes the blood run cold. Why did I feel dread?
He should take to wear t-shirts with messages on them, so each time they sneak a photo it's like opening a political fortune cookie. My current nomination for message would be, "Yeah, what Cheney said."
you don't know that...the pictures were waist up :p
Oh that is who he was telling to shut up.
I just saw the headline on Drudge.
Good for him, and Dick Cheney for telling Leahy to bluntly F off.
What is happening in the ME because of the Hate against Judeo/Christian Americans would have worn me thin and made me snippy a long time ago if I was a leader of the worlds greatest Free Country.
Gee four years and a feww comments is the worse the left can dig up on our leaders? Hell Clinton and his clan probably said all that and more in the first four hours of their WH time.
We've seen Dubya in T shirts before, he runs in them all the time.
LOL!
Okay, okay.
Clever!
If they can zoom in with a tv camera, they can zoom in with a rifle scope.
We stayed at Dromoland. I can't place where the Presidential suite is, though. Dinner was fantastic. The room was nice, and service was great. We only paid $200 a night as it was one of those add on things before a bus tour. Lots of open space, wooded areas, and a lake around it. Not much to do, but good for an overnight rather than getting off a plane and stuck right on a bus to start a tour.
