The story goes that Ike had several mistresses back at the office (even on the front line).Can't speak to that, however Ike didn't impress me as someone who would play around ... even on Mamie (his wife). Mamie, from what I understand, was a battle axe ... someone who enjoyed her cocktails and was profane enough to give Patton a run for his money. Probably why Eisenhower, except for one or two quick trips back to Washington, spent nearly 3 years in England during WWII.

Kay Summersby was one of Ike's drivers and supposed mistress.
But Stephen Ambrose (the prolific Eisenhower biographer) said they got really close, but he couldn't do it.
And Summersby said in her 1976 book, written just bfore she died, that their affections were never consumated.
