A sequence in Michael Moore's documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" focuses on a group of mostly middle-aged people sitting around what could be any average-looking living room in America. They are eating cookies.
Moore, in a thick, sarcastic tone, suggests that the scene is "a gathering of terrorists if ever I saw them."
The subject of Moore's barb is Peace Fresno, a local organization whose mission, according to the group's Web site, is "to seek effective, nonviolent responses to terrorism." The advocacy organization holds its meetings at the Fresno Center for Nonviolence.
Moore turned his cameras on the local group as part of his latest documentary, which spotlights actions under President Bush in reaction to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, D.C.
Specifically, the Oscar winning documentarian uses Peace Fresno in the segment that examines the effects of the USA Patriot Act. Bush signed the act into law Oct. 26, 2001. It gives sweeping powers to domestic law enforcement and international intelligence agencies to deal with terrorism.

Peace Fresno indeed! I remember these bastards marching against the attack on the Taliban. This is the enemy within.
Bush allegedly misuses the Patriot Act in an attempt to shutdown the "terrorist group" (according to Michael Moore) Peace Fresno (a group of brownie consuming aging hippies and assorted & sundry old farts). Bwahahhahahahha!!
BUMP
Saw it on the local news tonight. One wide angle shoot taken at the intersection of Shaw and Blackstone had the Support Our Troops Rally in the background.
Is Debbie Reyes is in the scene?
Oh, and you will have mail in a few minutes.
Does this mean that we can sue Michael Moore for unauthorized use of our likeness?
Can hardly believe that anyone, knowing that there are wackos out there that would believe anything, would pay good money to see such trash. In about 2 weeks when furor dies down, Mickey Mouse Moore's movie will be DOA. However, wouldn't be surprise if Mickey Mouse Moore & the demoncRATS resurrect the film about Sep or Oct.
When Fresno County sheriff's deputy Aaron Kilner was killed Aug. 30 in an off-duty motorcycle accident, members of Peace Fresno recognized his picture in The Fresno Bee, the documentary shows. Members of the group said he had called himself Aaron Stokes and had attended meetings, taking detailed notes.
Here's a paranoid conspiracy theory for you: "Aaron Stokes" was really a member of Peace Fresno that had infiltrated the Fresno County Sheriff's Department's anti-terrorism group.
Throw that at Peace Fresno and watch them spin in circles trying to figure it all out.
I'd just love to see them dropped into the middle of Fallujah... and see how quick these pacifists scream for Coalition soldiers to use weapons to come rescue them.
Is that the same group that sent the cops chasing you guys calling you a hate group? Figures!
Well, that was the Fresno City Human Relations Commission, but they're more or less in bed with Peace Fresno.
They will probably have the DVD out by that time, and will have a big media splash about that.
Peace Fresno is the group of Peacniks that used to protest the war every Friday night across the street from us.
The one and the same
I remember these buttwads... "Peace Fresno" - what a pathetic group...
Aren't these the silly rabbits that called Free Republic a "Hate Group"???
I'm probably mistaken, but I had to ask.
Unless I'm missing something, none of these incidents have anything to do with the Patriot Act. The infiltration of the peace group was from a local police officer, the FBI investigation is standard procedure, and the airline security issue is an increased security issue. Shockingly, it looks like Michael Moore is lying and distorting again.
