Ping!
I love it!
The nice thing about ROK troops on the ground, the US has good coordination and history with the commanders. They will not surrender like the French would.
You want to play "Viet Nam" again? Fine, we know how to play it a whole lot better than you. We do heads and hands too. We like nailing them to the door-posts of your house. We are the soldiers of the ROK and we bring you the gift of death. You killed our countryman. Prepare to die!
ROK Troops ping!
Check out these ROK troops heading for the sandbox - ping.
Unfortunately, I do not have details. I wish I had.
Having served side by side with Korean Army and Marines and been stationed in Korea itself, I know that the South Korean Army is outstanding. I was hoping that after the beheading that would send the White Horse Division, but problems with the north may prevent that.
"Are those 4-wheel armored-looking and track vehicles Korean designed and made?"
Not sure about the wheeled vehicles, but the APC-looking vehicle is a KIFV (Korean Infantry Fighting Vehicle), built in the 1990s. Malaysia bought a bunch and used them (in white/Blue UN markings)in Bosnia.
For an army that's obliged to be ever-vigilant, due to the threat from the north, this excursion should provide excellent real-time training. Let's hope they take advantage of the situation to kick some serious terrorist ass.
Amazing. Isn't it sad that to the naked eye the ROK vehicles look much more suited for combat than what the US Army is using? (with the exception of Abrams and Bradley)
Bump!
Interesting thing about the ROK, they have no copyright laws that I know of.Thier Main Battle Tank looks suspiciously like an M1 only with a cheaper diesel engine.Thier infantry rifle has a very familiar look as well.
There is nothing to cover up. Their tank is modeled after M1, their rifle after M-16. Americans approved it.They got help from Americans.
The ROK assault rifle is not modeled after the M-16. It's heritage comes from the much more reliable AR-18 which uses a short stroke gas piston system. Ironically that's the same operating system the XM-8 is designed after which is in consideration to replace the M-16/M-4 series of weapons for the Army. Once again Army procurement is shown to be lacking.
