Deporting Double Talk: Fox oversteps sense on illegal immigrants
Dallas Morning News ^ | June 25, 2004

Posted on 06/25/2004 1:02:00 AM PDT by sarcasm

Mexican President Vicente Fox said during his visit to the Midwest last week that the U.S. policy of apprehending and deporting illegal immigrants violates the human and economic rights of those immigrants.

Americans can be forgiven for rolling their eyes. That's pushing the notion of victim-hood a bit too far.

Those being apprehended and deported are, after all, illegal immigrants. They broke the law to get here, and, when caught, they should be sent back home – pronto.

To argue otherwise is to deprive the United States of the right to preserve its own sovereignty.

During the rest of his visits to Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis, Mr. Fox talked a lot about how his country owes the millions of Mexicans living in the United States "all of our respect and recognition and support."

He's right. The billions of dollars sent home each year by Mexicans in the United States is now Mexico's second-largest source of revenue. Only oil exports bring in more money.

That's quite an accomplishment. And, at the same time, it's also a stinging indictment of the economic reality in Mexico. It's shameful that so many Mexicans feel as if they have no choice but to pack up and travel north just to feed their families.

President Fox owes these folks more than kind words. He owes them the economic and social reforms in Mexico that might make it possible for future generations to stay put and find gainful employment in their own country.

Mexican President Vicente Fox needs some one to tell him that he does not rule the USA. He has a very big head.

Are you positive about that. I am not. (Sarcasm)

Mexico is getting away with murder within the borders of America, and America is to high on Mexican drugs to give a damn. Fox needs to be taken behind the woodshed.

There's a border for a reason. This is the US. That is Mexico. How could something so basic and straightforward be confusing? They have been taking advantage of American generosity and good will for too lone. Is there something America gets in return that we have overlooked?

The sad thing is, out U.S. policy makers will probably agree with him.

It is long past time to seal the border, send the illegals home, and get about our business. I won't hold my breath until that happens.

"Is there something America gets in return that we have overlooked?"

Sure! Long waits at ER's - if your community hospital is still not bankrupt, Illegaliens trashing your neighborhood, drugs and crime, the erosion of English as the national language, and let's not forget the "multi-cultural" aspect of those who remain unwilling to assimilate and where millions of illiterate Illegaliens expect to get drivers' license and a lifetime check because they dropped a baby while on "vacation".

And we get to PAY for all of it...

Now, don't you feel "privileged" that you can do something Illegaliens can't? < /grossly sarcastic > ;-)

Fox and Mexico want to get rid of these people but they insist that we cannot. Fox wouldn't care if they were sent someplace else, he wouldn't complain then or tell us how much we need them for our economy, he just hates the thought they might get sent back to Mexico.

Mpls was indeed "honored" by the fox in the hen house recently. The very, very bad news is that Mexico is going to plant a consulate in our midst.

Our governor is currently paying lip service to the illegal/deportation issues, as do all politicians. Meanwhile, one particular illegal woman Fox and the local news hugged while he was here is apparently safe from punishment. This same woman claimed Americans are here illegally as well since we "stole" the land from Mexicans and the mythological Indian Nation.

With the future of our country in the hands of immigrants like that...

That woman thought Mexico once ruled over the states in the Midwest USA? Chances are she never stepped foot into a school except to get her own kids in USA schools for the free lunch program.

It's sad but many of these types have never taken a single history or government class in their whole lives and really don't have any idea.

Arrrrgghhhh!!!! Hey listen up! I know PERSONALLY of a woman from Mexico who is coming to Austin within the next month. Her close friend has a son who is a Catholic priest. The priest is going to find house cleaning work for the woman from Mexico. Stupid Fox, stupid U.S. government, stupid world we live in.

I applied several places trying to get summer work. Nothing. Yet, this woman can come from Mexico just to work for one month cleaning houses to get money she needs to pay some bills. What about those of us who were born here, have paid taxes all of our lives AND want to work? What about us?

And we want to stop terrorists from infiltrating into the U.S.? What a joke.

Excuse me for yelling, I just can't take it anymore. Being fluently bilingual, I find out about things some of you could never dream of. If the United States government would hire me and let me form a team, I could put a stop to a LOT of illegal immigrant activity. But no, they're not really interested in stopping much of anything except those of us who don't want to become their slaves.

Refreshing, a little common sense from a major newspaper on the subject.

It's a miracle.

The Dallas Morning News writes a house editorial critical of illegal aliens.

One editorial won't make up for years of pro-illegal advocacy disguised as journalism.

I'm skeptical.
