In Allah's Name? Muslims in America react to the recent beheadings.
The Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal ^ | June 25, 2004 | Naomi Schaefer Riley

"At best, it's vigilantism. At worst it's anarchy. Islam is against both." That was the reaction of Daniel McBride to the recent beheadings of South Korean Kim Sun Il and Americans Paul Johnson and Nicholas Berg. Mr. McBride, a spokesman for the Islamic Center of Boca Raton, Fla., wants to make clear that "for these radicals to even imply that what they're doing is Islamically correct is wrong."

Many Muslims are disturbed that such acts of terrorism are being committed in the name of their religion. The Council on American-Islamic Relations launched a petition a few weeks ago that notes: "We, the undersigned Muslims wish to state clearly that those who commit acts of terror, murder, and cruelty in the name of Islam are not only destroying innocent lives, but also betraying the values of the faith they claim to represent."

Mohammad Tariq Sherwani, the director of the Muslim Center in Flushing, N.Y., signed the petition because he was concerned that "lots of times, Muslims don't speak up against violence." He expressed special sadness about the death of Paul Johnson. "That gentleman in Saudi Arabia. He was so honest. He lived there for years. He trusted the people. He was killed by the people he trusted."

-snip-

This is where the issue gets more difficult for some Muslim leaders in America. "Who is qualified to set themselves up as a legitimate tribunal to cast the death penalty?" asks Rashad Sharif, the imam of the Masjid Al-Mu'minun, in Memphis, Tenn. In a world where certain governments "refuse to recognize international courts," he believes that it is hard to say who is legitimate and who is not. Indeed, Imam Sharif refuses to explicitly condemn the beheadings. "When I hear about someone cut in two pieces, I think about how we [Americans] blow up people into more pieces than can be put back together."

As disturbing as Imam Sharif's message of moral equivalence seems, it points to a larger question. Why aren't Muslim leaders who denounce the beheadings willing to speak out against others who take the law into their own hands? Like the suicide bombers in Israel, for instance?

I'm sure the guy whose pregnant wife was shot in the belly and head, executed with his four other daughters for the glory of Allah is really consoled by this wonderful petition drive.

It just occurred to me that you might be interested in this. Look at my links - have you heard of this Joe Kaufman? He is an amazing, amazing person. I think.

one site of his here and another here.

Do not miss his biography.

I am still working my way through his archive, but wow, this guy puts us all to shame with his activism and writing.

Also what do you think about the guy in the post, from the BR Islamic Center, teaching a class called Terrorism, if it is the same person? What a joke!

"lots of times, Muslims don't speak up against violence."

I guess some are still learning the art of speaking from both sides of their mouths.

I suggest they study some politicians...pick any elected Democrat and
they could learn a lot about that fine art.

Bringing Islamic Extremists Into Our Schools
By Joe Kaufman
FrontPageMagazine.com | April 17, 2003

A little over a year ago, I found myself on a radio program discussing the ramifications of September 11, 2001 with the Florida Director for CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), Altaf Ali. Sometime during the show, I had asked him whether or not he thought the people that died in the collapse of the World Trade Center were innocent. I thought the media was delinquent in their questioning of certain Islamic groups after 9/11, giving them softball questions that any idiot could answer, like "How do you feel about the attack?" Answer: "We're against violence that targets innocent people." I wanted to know, once and for all, if any of these mainstream Muslim organizations, his included, believed that these people were in fact the "innocent" people they spoke of in their generic answer(s). I assumed these groups did not believe this to be the case.

And of course, my assumption was proven correct. Myself and the host, who was no longer willing to be impartial because of this, had to ask this question literally ten times, before Mr. Ali begrudgingly, against his own conscience, answered in the affirmative, yes, the people that died in the towers were innocent.

After this, Altaf was notably upset. He said he felt we were ganging up on him (After wavering on that question what did he expect?), so he decided to leave the show early. But before leaving, while he thought I wasn't paying attention, he swiped my notes; he put them under his black binder, so I couldn't see. "Those are mine," I said, to which he said the opposite, that they were his. "I was reading from those notes." That's my yellow highlighter that I highlighted them with," I replied, to which he begrudgingly, against his own conscience, gave me back my notes. Noticeably peeved, I asked a very inappropriate question, "Mr. Ali, does your religion tell you that it's okay to lie?"

Deception by Islamic extremists is part of the process. This particular group, CAIR, is widely reported as having been the creation of the Texas-based Islamic Association for Palestine or IAP, which is a front for the terrorist group Hamas and an organization that the United States has taken action against in its war on terror. Yet CAIR goes around masquerading as a civil rights organization, as an organization that fights against discrimination.

This, in turn, has caused people to use the term "moderate" to describe CAIR. Daniel Pipes, who was recently appointed by our government to the board of the U.S. Institute of Peace, calls CAIR "Moderate friends of terror." CAIR, which worked hard to block this appointment, says Pipes is an "Islamophobe," but as Jonathan Tobin, a commentator for Jewish World Review, wrote, CAIR has "taken on the task of smearing anyone who speaks out against these groups (Hamas and Islamic Jihad) or investigates their activities."

Subsequent to knowing all of this, you could imagine my surprise when I viewed a program that was produced by the Broward County School Board, which prominently featured Altaf Ali. The program dealt with "diversity awareness," and late last month, it was shown in every Broward County public school.

And not only did it feature Mr. Ali, but it also included Maulana Shafayat Mohamed, the spiritual leader of Darul Aloom. If you don't know (you probably don't), Darul Aloom was the mosque where Jose Padila, the one suspected of plotting to explode a ''dirty bomb'' in the United States, worshipped. It was also the mosque where Imran Mandhai and Shueyb Mossa Jokhan are said to have plotted attacks on a National Guard Armory in Hollywood and electrical substations in Miami Shores.

And if you thought things couldn't get much worse, think again. Now, Altaf Ali from CAIR has been brought on by the Diversity & Cultural Outreach department of the Broward County School Board to provide diversity training to school personnel. And get this, I was told it includes teaching about anti-Semitism.

I feel like I'm living in an episode of the Twilight Zone! CAIR and other groups like it, such as the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), have successfully pulled the wool over the public's eyes. If you are as concerned as I am, that our schoolchildren are learning from those that would otherwise cause our country a great deal of harm, then do your part and contact the head of the School Board's Diversity & Cultural Outreach department, Maria Rodriguez, at: (954) 768-8124. As our President told us after 9/11, be vigilant.

In a rational time (like WWII), if this "holy man" wasn't a citizen, he'd
be locked up or given a one-way ticket home.

Unlike pre-9-11, at least now this fifth column is getting exposed to the light of day.
When I hear some of their spokespersons whining during interviews...it's the sound
of the witch melting in The Wizard of Oz.

...but now Americans think a whole religion is against them.

Here's a news-flash friend...
when we've got detainees from about FORTY countries in Gitmo, it's a sign that
a whole h-ll of a lot of a religion is wishing us harm.

(IIRC, the forty country figure is what ABC's Peter Jennings said on his
Gitmo special last night.)

And at the same time, my heart did go out to the Kuwaiti family (in the special) that has
a son detained there. I can't tell if the son was actually doing good/bad in Afghanistan,
but the family seemed credible in their explanations and expression of emotion.

Police: Graffiti With Ethnic Slurs Appears On Egg Harbor Home

Officials Worry Slurs May Be Connected To Beheading

POSTED: 12:12 pm EDT June 25, 2004
UPDATED: 1:44 pm EDT June 25, 2004

There are concerns ethnic slurs spray-painted on an Egg Harbor Township home may be linked to the execution of an American in Saudi Arabia.

Police say it's a bias crime directed at "persons of Middle Eastern descent."

Khalib Bano noticed the graffiti when he returned home Thursday.

Faiza Ali, of the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the graffiti indicates a hatred that could turn into something violent.

The discovery came less than a week after a native of nearby Eagleswood Township was beheaded by militants in Saudi Arabia. Paul Johnson Jr. was 49.

"At best, it's vigilantism. At worst it's anarchy. Islam is against both."

Taqija
The expression taquija means to dissimulate and is used when serving the propagation of islam or benefiting a muslim compared to 'infidels'. Lying to 'infidels' is officially acknowledged and is religiously motivated.

In essence taqija means that a muslim is allowed to hide his or her intentions in a difficult situation. For instance in regard to koran interpretations, the more mellow verses are emphasized toward people with no thorough knowledge of the matter, and threatening, harsh verses are hidden.

Taqija was practised by the prophet, mohammed, himself; in negotiations where he fooled his opponents. For that very reason muslims often enter into agreements intending to break them when they have assumed control of the situation.

Active muslims in the West deny the use of taqija. This emphatic denial of using taqija towards us and the authorities is part of the method used in taqija.

Fraud and lies are religiously permitted means in Islam. A negotiated settlement or an agreement with a muslim is never final.

How can they be "betraying the values of the faith" when they are only obeying their own scriptures that tell them to kill all infidels?

Now that is funny. "Something violent" from a CAIR rep.

McBride might be interested to know what they'll do to him if he ever tries to unconvert. They'll kill him, once a Muslim always a Muslim and it's the death penalty if he tries to criticize what the others do or if he ever takes a good look at the life of Mohammed. Salman Rushdie tried that.

And I would bet money --- very anti-Jew. A group that demands the death of all Jews is very quick to cry racism when anyone makes a mean looking face at them. How many Muslims would say that the Jews could have their own state even though Muslims have claimed many as theirs? Not one.
