Green Party delegates face choice of Nader vs. Cobb

MILWAUKEE - For Green Party delegate Tony Affigne, the question of nominating the relatively unknown David Cobb for president or endorsing the high-profile Ralph Nader comes down to one thing.

Which one is better suited to grow the Green Party and ensure its views are part of this fall's presidential campaign?

Green Party delegates began arriving Wednesday in Milwaukee for their national convention, many of them asking themselves the same question.

Cobb has won a plurality of delegates in the Green Party's primaries and caucuses, but Nader has been the party's candidate in the last two elections. He also offers delegates a national profile guaranteed to attract attention, unlike Cobb, a Texas attorney.

The issue also has national implications for Nader's campaign. Along with the party's endorsement could come the Green Party's ballot lines for president in 22 states and Washington, D.C.
