Officials announced Tuesday a British company engaged in the international race to build commercial space vehicles will open a New Mexico office.
Starchaster Industries, a contender for the $10 million Anasari X Prize, plans an office in Las Cruces, said Rick Homans, New Mexico's economic development secretary. Launches in New Mexico could begin as early as 2006.

I still think that Burt is going to win, it looks like a lot of companies is still going. Also it looks like a lot space companies may come here to the states.

The X-Prize isn't the end of it. After Burt gets his sack o' cash, the same organization will hold yearly "space"-shows (as opposed to air-shows) and will give out prizes and awards to those who've gotten over various technological hurdles.

At the end of the year is the way I understand it, when it expires.

Burt mentioned a 90 day redesign turn-around, and then ready for the X-prize. I'll place my money on Mr. Rutan. He says what he'll do. He does what he says. Nothing wins like winning.

I still think that Burt is going to win, it looks like a lot of companies is still going. Also it looks like a lot space companies may come here to the states. From watching some of the shows on PBS and Discovery Channel, and from reading various articles, I've got a strong feeling that many know they have no chance of winning, but they are in it for the long haul. Almost like they are just using the competition to generate interest, but the competition is not their goal, their goal is to be making a living in and around space....
Like the saying somewhat goes - some people were born to be pioneers and some were born to be settlers, and they are the pioneers.
