Hollywood - Although his latest films “Kill Bill” and "Kill Bill 2" have been denounced by critics for their leaden dialogue and for being mindless gorefests, Quentin Tarantino still remains one of the most influential film directors of recent times, say industry insiders. They cite as evidence of Tarantino’s influence the recent rash of films coming out of Hollywood with rhyming titles.

“Shoot Zoot” (20th Century Fox, scheduled for release at Christmas) is based on the real-life story of legendary tenor saxophonist Zoot Sims whose career almost came to a premature end when he was attacked by 150 sword-wielding members of the Yakuza during a performance at the 1956 Tokyo Jazz Festival. “Save Dave” (Fine Line, January 2005 release) is about the early career of Late Night’s David Letterman when he was kidnapped by 150 sword-wielding members of the Yakuza when he was a weatherman at WLWI television station in Indianapolis. “Bury Mary” (Buena Vista, December 18 release) concerns an attempt by 150 sword-wielding members of the Yakuza to kill Republican strategist Mary Matalin during her wedding to Clinton advisor James Carville. “Kick Rick” (Searchlight, February 2005 release) deals with an attack by 150 sword-wielding members of the Yakuza to force Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum to change his vote on the partial-birth abortion bill during an all-night filibuster in 1998. And finally, “Fool Abdul” (Searchlight, Christmas 2004 release) is Jerry Bruckheimer’s latest production that deals with the lighter side of the War on Terror in which 150 sword-wielding members of the Yakuza crash karaoke night at a falafel restaurant in Dearborn, Michigan during Ramadan.

In related news, Walt Disney films announced this morning that Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson will be reunited once again in the comedy/action/western film “Hang Wang.” Principal photography will begin as soon as Wilson completes his onscreen work for the Ridley Scott Civil War epic “Free Lee.”
