Sources: Ryan campaign explores exit strategy

Officials in the Jack Ryan campaign have spoken to some members of the congressional delegation, asking for advice about a possible strategy for ending his candidacy in the U.S. Senate race, sources said today.

But as recently as this morning, a Ryan spokeswoman was denying rumors the candidate was reassessing whether to continue his campaign.

"We are not reassessing. Jack Ryan is in the race to stay. Jack Ryan will be in the race on Nov. 2,'' Kelli Phiel told the Associated Press.

The conversations between Ryan's campaign and Republicans in Washington came after the candidate dropped a scheduled trip to the nation's capital to participate in a fundraising event with Sen. George Allen (R-Virginia), head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

The cancellation of that fundraiser fueled speculation in the GOP that Ryan had lost crucial support from the national Republican group.

Learn to like Obama. Did you know he went to Harvard? It always comes out in the first paragraph.

This is too bad; he shouldn't have to pull out. When he was young he was adventurous, and with a smokin' hot wife. And he was probably just jokin anyhow; everything gets twisted into the worst possible interpretation in a divorce. What his views are on the issues is what should count, not this stuff.

Some might call him a RINO, but I don't think he was corrupt.

He is quite popular here in IL.

Do any solid conservative Ohio representatives have enough name recognition to win a statewide election?

Chabot?
Tiberi?
Portman?
Boener?

And he was also the first person the Bush people vetted for the job last year.

We need someone like him on the ticket, or we have the two worst senators in the nation come January.

He needs to pull a Torch, and pull out with like three weeks left in the campaign. Then appoint some popular Republican, and skate to victory.

It is too bad Ryan inn't a dem. If he were, the media would let him put this behind him and move on.

If he drops out, we will miss being amused by members of the fully segregated, step-n-fetchit the Congressional Black Cacus as they explain how with Willie it was only about sex but with Ryan, it is about sex.

Why doesn't Ryan have this marriage annuled and move on to his next hot babe (I always thought that 7 of 9 would be much better than Captain Janeway in a ... what is that Klingon word?).

Why doesn't he just switch parties? He'd win in a landslide.

or we have the two worst senators in the nation come January.

Dick Durbin is a dim wit alright but not quite on the level of drunk fat Ted or Hillary, Charles Schumer or Sheets Byrd.

When vying for the honor of worst senator ours are going to have some stiff competition
