When a group of children reported hearing screams and seeing a woman's body in a creek not far from the former home of Scott and Laci Peterson, police in Modesto geared up for the worst Tuesday night.
A short time later, authorities, using a helicopter and searchers on the ground, found what had prompted the scare -- a large beaver.
The false alarm came in around 8:30 p.m. with disturbing details. The children, at least one of whom was 11 years old, said a dark-haired woman's body, clothed in a ripped white shirt, was floating in Modesto's Dry Creek........

REDWOOD CITY - A string of prosecution witnesses testified Monday that Laci Peterson frequently complained of fatigue and had pledged to give up exercise walks in the weeks before her disappearance. Scott Peterson claims his wife planned to walk the couple's dog the morning he left for a solo fishing trip and returned to an empty home.........

Juror dismissed from panel
By Jason Dearen
Snip it:
"Breaks in the case
The major break for detectives came in late December, when Amber Frey called the Modesto Police Department's tip line. "I was standing behind the clerk's desk; she was typing in a claim from someone claiming to be his girlfriend," Brocchini said.
Brocchini and another detective drove to Frey's house to check her story. Moments later they were at a Radio Shack, purchasing a recording device for her cell phone.
"I told her not to tell (Peterson) you are working with the police. Just let him keep talking to you ..." Brocchini said. Distaso asked how long it took for Frey to record a call.
"She recorded a conversation while we were there," he said.
The other break came while studying a photograph of Scott Peterson's boat two months after it was taken. For the firs time, Brocchini noticed a pair of pliers with a hair attached resting on the boat's bottom. The hair discovery "was kind of an exciting moment for us," said Brocchini. That hair has not been identified as Laci's, but has been excluded by DNA testing from belonging to Peterson.
At one point in the video, Brocchini tried to confuse Peterson but had the tactic backfire. Peterson said he made two calls to Laci from the marina that day, one at 2:17 p.m. and another on his way home around 4:30 p.m. "I have a couple of concerns. One is from the cell phone call at 12:17, you said 2:17 but the time stamp (on Peterson's cell phone) says 12:17," Brocchini says in an accusatory tone.
Peterson grabs the cell phone and checks the time stamp. After checking he tells Brocchini he mixed up the times. "You said it," Peterson said. With a slight pause to look at his notes, Brocchini admits, "Yeah, you're right."".....

Juror No. 5 removed, motion for mistrial denied
Justin Falconer, previously known to the world as Juror No. 5 in the Scott Peterson murder trial, speaks with the media after he was kicked off the jury Wednesday.
JOHN GREEN/THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Snip it:
"Falconer said he would not vote to convict Peterson of murdering his wife, Laci, an unborn son, Conner, from the testimony so far presented. Speaking to a media throng outside the courthouse, he declined to comment on whether other jurors felt similarly. "

He was accepted at the Country Club as a member in December of the same month Laci disappeared...That membership is a large payment for a soon to be father to make....especially one making 66,000 a year.
I forgot to mention the two things the CTV court reporter mentioned that had come out that were most incriminating of Scott....
Telling the neighbor the first night of Laci's disappearance, out of the blue"I bet they find blood in my truck, I am always cutting my hands and bleed everywhere"( my memory) and I believe the statement that Scott got more upset over burned chicken at a barbeque than Laci's disappearance.(Laci's relative)
Pepcid and Hershey's Nuggets for me...That reminder of the bug testimony is enough to make me sick! LOL
You left out the maid's wages, yogi classes, etc.

The pool was(months)new aswell. They had bought some new furniture also (I think it was Geragos who said that).
I'm not sure televising it will help. They televised most of the Westerfield trial, and I swear people saw two completely different trials. Experts would testify, and people would draw totally different meanings from their testimony. (Yes, I still think either he didn't do it all, or he had to have help--the bugs and the dogs are the only witnesses in the whole thing that had any integrity and an incapability of lying--yet the jury, and some Freepers, COMPLETELY discounted them.)
Taking that at face value could seem to make her seem incompetent. Of, course we know there may be other reasons why she granted the POA to her hubby. There are, also, other reasons why Brocchini would disregard her alleged contact with Laci.
The point is, this game of "gotcha" is going nowhere for Geragos.
CC mentioned on one of her shows that she suspects he might have had some other (illegal) business bringing in money. Remember, he also spent like it was going out of style on his girlfriends. Her theory--maybe meth.

It's too funny NOT to share!
I think Geragos by pulling this caper is going to have it backfire on him in a major way. It will no doubt be shown that this "witness" is of no value to the Defense. And Geragos has certainly crapped out regarding all the "eye" witnesses. By doing this, he has drawn MORE attention to his weak case.
ROTFL! You're right. BTW, great interview on Cavuto, in case anyone missed it.
I love witty stuff like that.......heck, anything for a laugh after this week!
Funny stuff...I've been there and welcomed aboard that newbie..I dream of confronting Leahy with my opinion of him and his duplicitous, conniving, lying demo ways. Good work, Mr. Vice President!
Since I'm still at the Salt mines here tell me what went on !!!! (LOL I work for my husband who is a Lawyer but he's a business Lawyer, not litigation)!!
Howlin it has been discussed before that Peterson "may" well have been into the drug (meth) industry. One of the ingredients of the fertilizer is needed to manufacture meth.
>>private investigator Bill] Pavelic <<
Isn't this the same investigator the dream team used in the OJ trial??
I think it is, and he is a real jerk!! Scum-bag!!
One and the same.
Plus according to the info on Catherine Cryer yesterday, his dating had to be very expensive.
His first date with Amber he had a suite at the Radisson, strawberries and champagne, dinner at the Elephant Bar, dancing etc.
That's really good!!
Oh GAG me!! This appears to be his MO!!
That's not the way it went juzcuz. Laci MOST LIKELY NEVER saw the boat, ...
----
Your probably right... I can just imagine Snott saying to her: You know - Sweetie, don't go in there wouldn't be good for you to get exposed to all the chemicals, go there instead.
