When a group of children reported hearing screams and seeing a woman's body in a creek not far from the former home of Scott and Laci Peterson, police in Modesto geared up for the worst Tuesday night.
A short time later, authorities, using a helicopter and searchers on the ground, found what had prompted the scare -- a large beaver.
The false alarm came in around 8:30 p.m. with disturbing details. The children, at least one of whom was 11 years old, said a dark-haired woman's body, clothed in a ripped white shirt, was floating in Modesto's Dry Creek........

REDWOOD CITY - A string of prosecution witnesses testified Monday that Laci Peterson frequently complained of fatigue and had pledged to give up exercise walks in the weeks before her disappearance. Scott Peterson claims his wife planned to walk the couple's dog the morning he left for a solo fishing trip and returned to an empty home.........

Juror dismissed from panel
By Jason Dearen
Snip it:
"Breaks in the case
The major break for detectives came in late December, when Amber Frey called the Modesto Police Department's tip line. "I was standing behind the clerk's desk; she was typing in a claim from someone claiming to be his girlfriend," Brocchini said.
Brocchini and another detective drove to Frey's house to check her story. Moments later they were at a Radio Shack, purchasing a recording device for her cell phone.
"I told her not to tell (Peterson) you are working with the police. Just let him keep talking to you ..." Brocchini said. Distaso asked how long it took for Frey to record a call.
"She recorded a conversation while we were there," he said.
The other break came while studying a photograph of Scott Peterson's boat two months after it was taken. For the firs time, Brocchini noticed a pair of pliers with a hair attached resting on the boat's bottom. The hair discovery "was kind of an exciting moment for us," said Brocchini. That hair has not been identified as Laci's, but has been excluded by DNA testing from belonging to Peterson.
At one point in the video, Brocchini tried to confuse Peterson but had the tactic backfire. Peterson said he made two calls to Laci from the marina that day, one at 2:17 p.m. and another on his way home around 4:30 p.m. "I have a couple of concerns. One is from the cell phone call at 12:17, you said 2:17 but the time stamp (on Peterson's cell phone) says 12:17," Brocchini says in an accusatory tone.
Peterson grabs the cell phone and checks the time stamp. After checking he tells Brocchini he mixed up the times. "You said it," Peterson said. With a slight pause to look at his notes, Brocchini admits, "Yeah, you're right."".....

Juror No. 5 removed, motion for mistrial denied
Justin Falconer, previously known to the world as Juror No. 5 in the Scott Peterson murder trial, speaks with the media after he was kicked off the jury Wednesday.
JOHN GREEN/THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Snip it:
"Falconer said he would not vote to convict Peterson of murdering his wife, Laci, an unborn son, Conner, from the testimony so far presented. Speaking to a media throng outside the courthouse, he declined to comment on whether other jurors felt similarly. "

I've just taken a couple of hours off, and was feeling better until I turned on Greta!!
Thanks, I missed all the fireworks today while at the dr's. This isn't good....is anyone else getting worried?
Ahh yes. Brocchini talked to everybody before making the report. Including the owner and receptionist at Sweet Serendipity, who said Laci was there for a treatment at possibly the same time the ignored witness put her in the warehouse. Geragos may be working on a three egg facial.
Listen to Jeff!
And if she keeps having that juror on, I won't be watching her!
He called Jackie-O and I cowards, because I sent her a personal e-mail.
>>Listen to Jeff! <<
I know...I'm having another I love Jeff moment!!!
I'm starting to like Fieger..
He just stated something I've been thinking. He said this case is not going to be decided on what some detective left out of a report. Things like that happen alll alll the time. This case will be decided on what was Snott doing at the Bay, etc.
He said Geragos will not produce this Witness. He knows who she is... He won't because...(my words:it won't help.)
Worried? For a moment, then started thinking for myself. The media doesn't think, they just digest what they're fed and in doing so they mislead. I think the prosecutor has it covered. Probably choregraphed the whole thing. A witness says she sees a very pregnant Laci jumping in and out of a boat while she is supposed to be hobbled. Two other witnesses see a very tired Laci come in their shop for a little pampering. If these two events are supposed to happen at the same time. Who ya going to believe? More importantly, who would you completely ignore?
You see, by making such a big deal out of this witness, Geragos has made it seem like what the witness says is true and what the detective said is not.
And we all know that Mark Geragos is a liar.
BushisWhatever is a WOMAN.
Gloria Allred just stated that Amber does not want her father speaking for her...Allred is her spokesperson, not her Dad.
I will re-state what I said earlier....I'm quite sure that this is nothing but a RED HERRING , but my problem is that the jury is stuck with the Geragos spin for the WHOLE WEEKEND!!
The prosecution can NOT refute this until Monday!!
If there are any other jurors like #5 they will believe it and not change their minds!!
Also...
There was an issue with the Yoga Instructor. The issue was -were her words- 'that Laci needed help to her car' left out of the police report... From what I understood, either she failed to tell them or they didn't get it all.
Geragos made a big thing out of that too. Made her look like a liar (making it up) because it wasn't in the report.. DUH...
Thanks for telling me...GRIN
I believe that the prosecution signed a stipulation that she did NOT tell them what she testified to in court!
I checked it out over there...rough, rough.
You all managed to handle the disruptors quite well! LOL
It sounds to me that the prosecution has really bungled this case. They have had over a year to prepare there's no excuse for not interviewing each and every witness before hand to fend off surprizes..
Where is Brazelton? Maybe he should take over. Then again maybe he knows it's a wash... I'm really getting discouraged. Maybe Greta was right when she said "it's over". Poor Laci...
