I'm watching the 2nd airing now .. he's talking about all the people who showed up
Little Ron Doesn't Get it .. it has nothing to do with the current administration
IT WAS ABOUT HIS FATHER .. THE MAN .. THE PRESIDENT ..
It's was about paying paying respect and thanking him
I found myself becoming kind of emotional reading the transcript...it really *hurt* that Ronald Reagan's son is so shallow that he interpreted the love and respect of a nation not for what it was, but as a political slam on the current President.
I guess every family has its quirks...it's sure hard for an outsider to connect the dots and understand Patti and Ron as the children of Ronald Reagan... What is especially sad is there seems to be such bitterness and/or emptiness inside them. This was evident to me at the funeral, for instance Patti spoke of death not with hope, but simply as...death. Ron (who as I remember usually looked straight ahead or down during prayers...?) used the opportunity not so much to pay tribute to his father, but to tell stories of questionable taste and make a political slam. It was the only discordant note in a very meaningful week. What a contrast their speeches were with Michael, who spoke of his father with love, respect, and hope.
