Democrats and Liberal Media Attempt To Divide Republican Party

Senatorial candidate, Jack Ryan, is under attack by democrats, and some republicans, after the release of his divorce papers on Monday. This is an attempt to divide the republican party and detract us from our message, and we cannot allow this attempt to succeed. It is important that republicans stick to the issues affecting Illinois and the rest of the country.

We are facing a healthcare crisis, we are fighting a war on terror, judges are legislating from the bench, God is being driven out of our society, our Second Amendment guarantees are being eroded, and abortion is viewed by some as the contraceptive of choice. We can either unite behind our candidate, Jack Ryan, because he holds the views that are consistent with our conservative values, and that are best for Illinois and our country, or we can abandon him in his time of need and allow ultra liberal extremist, Barack Obama, to replace Senator Kerry as the most liberal member of the Senate. Obama is not in favor of tort reform, he is weak on defending our borders against terrorists, he has never seen a gun control law he has not liked, he is in favor of abortion, and partial birth abortion, he supports a Hillary Clinton model healthcare system, and he has consistently voted for increased taxes. Is this who we want as our next U.S. Senator?

We need to remain true to our conservative message and show a little forgiveness? Who was it that said, "Judge not lest ye be judged?" Was it not Jesus, God's son, who's teachings we are trying to preserve in our society? I can think of no better time to employ some of his lessons than right now. After all, people are waiting in line to pay $32 for Bill Clinton's memoirs, that he was paid $10 million dollars upfront to write. The majority of consumers are purchsing the book because they want to read the details about the extra marrital affairs that occured while Clinton held public office. We are all supposed to forgive him and view the scandal as a private matter, despite the fact he was receiving a government salary. The scandal we republicans must deal with is PG in comparison. At least the alleged rendezvous did not take place on taxpayer time, and it was within the confines of marriage. The much anticipated news is out, now let's move on and get back to the issues. We have an election to win. -Erin Zweigart

When he married Jeri he literally thought she was 7 of 9.

Clinton is not treating it privately, but discussing it.

The scandal we republicans must deal with is PG in comparison.

I'd say Parisian sex clubs merit a PG-13 at the minimum. < /sarcasm>

>>PG in comparison (to the Clinton scandal)

Yes and Clinton himself is PG in comparison to Josef Stalin. He's still a perve and a sociopath.

Yes - it's true. That is the epitome of the problem we are faced with. But looking the other way for Jack Ryan is not the answer. I'm sure there is another candidate with true conservative beliefs who does not have Bill Clinton's morals. If you look the other way with respect to Ryan - you condone Clinton's behavior.

Who is this Zweigart? This is moronic:

At least the alleged rendezvous did not take place on taxpayer time, and it was within the confines of marriage.

Only due to Mrs. Ryan's objections.

On March 11, 2004, before the primary, the Associated Press quoted Ryan as saying:

"The only thing I'm keeping sealed is the stuff surrounding my son."

What he didn't mention was that this stuff also contained the sex club allegations.

I would only say that anyone, in this day and age, who has not been "charged" with imagined "sex crimes" by a scorned ex-wife should consider himself lucky.

Prosecution for perjury in divorce actions is rare, and the ex's lawyers know that.

Yup. Nothing more need be said. I'm sorry the Illinois GOP lost an up-and-comer, but that's politics. He's cracked; throw him away, write it off and get a new one.

If I've heard this rightly, Ryan sought to have sex in a public place with his wife and she refused. Is it just me, or does that seem a little short on juicy details for a career wrecking scandal?

Who is the judge that unsealed these records? Couldn't be, oh let's see, a DEMOCRAT could it?

The real issue is whether Ryan lied to voters and party leadership about the content of the files. Some party leadership apparently alleges that he said that nothing embarassing was in the files. He is now saying that he told them that nothing was in the files that should prevent him from being a US Senator.

I, for one, don't care about his alleged freakiness. If he did lie, that's different.

Thank you. It's painful to watch all these FReepers try to parse the situation and say "Clinton did worse, so he's OK."

No decent married man, no decent father, brings his wife to a Parisian sex club.

He admitted he did this.

If he can't treat his own family with respect, why should I vote for him?

Clinton: rapist, philanderer, cigar wielding intern perv

Jack Ryan: wanted to have sex with his wife

Yeah, that's equivalent.

Boo frickin' hoo! WAKE UP "WIDEAWAKE"!!!!!

Do you not think that if every person's deepest dark secrets were revealed that MANY if not MOST of them would have something MUCH MUCH WORSE than taking his wife to a sex club? What world are you living in????

All this holier-than-thou self-righteous anger is really ridiculous.

---The records were released Monday after a judge ordered the documents unsealed. Ryan and his ex-wife both fought the release, saying it would be harmful to their 9-year-old son.---

Why would a judge unseal these records when both directly involved parties were against it? What interest was the judge serving?

Good question.

So when is the media going to ask to see John Kerry's divorce records?

I think Zweigart is being fairminded. Divorce court brings out the worst in people especially when children are involved. Here we have two very ambitious people. How many people get a chance to get into legit acting career? How many become millionaire? How do you know if Jeri Lynn exaggerated her claims? She was not faithful to Jack and she knew she would lose custody of her child. I'm speculating. We don't know the whole story and it takes two to tango. It's a private matter. The judge had no right to open their divorce files. They have a right to keep their divorce files private. If statements were said to hurt one another, they might be embarrassed about what they said later. Wouldn't you spare your child from a adult fight? It shows they are good parents to be so concerned. Going to risque clubs is not a crime. There was no criminal behavior involved. They were on their own time as a married couple. It's different when Clinton was having a affair with Monica in the oval office. They were on taxpayer's time and taxpayer's property. I've been married to the same man for nearly twenty years. I feel blessed that things have worked out for us. We share the same intimacy since we been dating! I do understand some marriages do not work out and it's best to divorce. We need to get over this and help get Jack elected. I certainly don't want liberal judges in federal court system or liberal judges in the Surpreme Court. That's what Obama will do when he becomes Senator. Don't let our emotions get over logic. That's what the liberals want.

Jack Ryan supports free markets, an individuals right to self defense in his own home with a handgun; notwithstanding any tyrannical local laws to the contrary, lower income taxes, general support for the war on terror to include the Iraq reconstruction, education vouchers, not allowing birthing baby's skulls to be cracked and their brains sucked out, and an end to racial preferences in affirmative action. I will support this man even if he doesn't get out of the race, since Obama is a polar opposite on all of these issues. One of the most important issues confronting the future of (small r) republican government is an increasingly activist and unconstitutional federal judiciary. In an interview with the St. Louis Dispatch on 5 Mar 2004, Obama said that the president has “demanded a rubber stamp for a handful of judicial nominees whose views are extreme and out of touch “and that “I believe a filibuster may be appropriate.” In truth, the president only wants the opportunity for an up or down vote of the full Senate for his candidates, ones that are less likely to see themselves as the sort of supernumerary legislature that Obama undoubtedly wants, and not the extra- constitutional supermajority vote requirement that the Democrats have imposed with their Judiciary Committee shenanigans. It is my hope that this contretemps will lead in a roundabout way to a discussion of the issues, since Obama’s extreme liberalism is DEFINITELY flying under the radar.

True, this development does not help Ryan's campaign, and does reflect poorly on his judgment. If he intended to stay in the race he should have released this material when it first became obvious that its release was inevitable. He could then have better controlled the timing of that release and had more time for its impact to be defused. We should assume that he will not drop out of the race as things stand now. If that is so, then we need to go on the offensive and highlight Obama's extreme liberal beliefs, voting record (particularly Illinois SB 101, which he co-sponsored with Carol Ronen, D-7th District which places Homosexuals, bi-sexuals, lesbians, and trans-gendered people as protected within the rubric of the Illinois Civil Rights Act), and contrast them to Ryan's beliefs. More finger pointing will only get us closer to electing the socialist Obama.

I would like to remind all that Saint Augustine, the greatest of the Latin fathers and one of the most eminent doctors of the Western church was pretty much a libertine until the age of 30. In 372 he fathered an out of wedlock child with a Carthaginian concubine that he named Adeodatus. ("Latin for the Gift of God") While I am by no means suggesting that Jack Ryan be canonized, I am saying that it is possible that the man’s philosophies on life have changed in 6 years, as may be evinced by his teaching in an inner city high school. I am compelled to give the man the benefit of the doubt, particularly when I consider the RADICAL SOCIALISTIC ALTERNATIVE to his candidacy.
