It does mean just that. The same reason why both (in the flawed view of the author) are ineligible for the vice presidency is that both (supposedly) are ineligible for the presidency. That's the stipulation in the 12th amendment that is said to apply to the both of them.

I am simply reading the obvious meaning of the author's article. Some have accused the author of reading more into the Constitution than is there. Then they turn around and do the same thing with his article, while insulting him. It's just rather ironical, not to mention hypocritical.
