At least 23 million Americans receive food stamps each month and about 12 million of them are children.

I wonder how many of them are grossly obese? We've got "hunger" stuck in our heads as a thing that happens to poor people that we have to fix. It's a very inapplicable model in 2004.

I worked in a grocery store for more years than I want to admit. The fattest, most grossly overweight people were the welfare recipients.

It also bothered myself and other store employees when we saw these parasites buying T-bone steaks, tenderloin, ribeye, large tubs of ice cream and other things that WE could not afford! These parasites would buy cartloads of food on their food stamps and the store employees could only afford hot dogs and ramen.

This is exactly the wrong approach! The food stamp program should be abolished, and replaced with a "food" program. Don't give them vouchers for food, hand them the actual foodstuffs - brightly wrapped in a Red White and Blue package clearly identifying it as government largess. (hmm... Largesse, kind of a catchy brand name, don't you think?)

Further, Largesse brand food should not come in limitless varieties. If you want cold serial for breakfast, you may choose between Largesse brand Raisin Bran or Toastios. You want Captain Crunch? Pay for it yourself.

The government should insure that you don't starve, but that in no way obligates Gov't to feed you anything you d%mn feel like eating.
