JOKESTER SCOTT

June 23, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Jurors at the Scott Peterson double-murder trial yesterday traveled back in time to Christmas morning 2002 and watched as the "calm, cool, relaxed" suspect laughed as he told a detective about his missing wife's fastidiousness. With Detective Al Brocchini in the witness box, prosecutors played a DVD on a big screen that showed Peterson being interrogated at the Modesto police station 16 hours after he claimed he went fishing, leaving his eight-months pregnant wife, Laci, at home mopping floors.
"Why was your wife mopping the floors on [Christmas Eve] morning?" Brocchini asks Peterson on the recording.
Peterson leans back in his chair, chuckles and replies, "She was very meticulous about it, with it being Christmas and with the dogs and the cats in the house." Police later learned that the Petersons' housekeeper had mopped the floors the previous day.
Peterson was also seen snickering when Brocchini asked ........

Scott Peterson appeared calm and emotionless even as a police detective grilled him on his whereabouts the day his wife disappeared and later when the detective accused him of having multiple extramarital affairs, according to testimony at his double-murder trial Tuesday.
Peterson sipped from a coffee cup, stuck his hands in his pockets, talked in a steady and calm voice and even joked about misfiring his gun, during the interview by Detective Al Brocchini at the Modesto Police Department. The interview, recorded by video camera and played for jurors Tuesday, took place just after midnight Dec. 25, 2002, six hours after Peterson reported his wife, Laci, missing.
Throughout the hourlong video, Peterson expresses little concern for his missing pregnant wife. He also appears unconcerned about questions relating to what he'd done and where he'd been earlier that day......

Good Lord I hope Distaso knows this!
It would depend on how much of the lungs were left to analyze. :-(

DA's Argument against the Motion to supress:
http://www.paloaltodailynews.com/peterson/briefs/PRM_02-23-04_DA_Media.pdf
Yesterday, Geragos made a motion to supress media interviews Snott was involved in. Interesting reading.
In the DA's argument Facts I didn't know-
Page 4- (14) The defendent admits having a relationship with Amber Frey, but states that he "doesn't know" why he was having the relationship..
Page 8- (15) The defendent was also extremely guarded in his responses and wouldn't answer specific questions about the investigation. (17) The defendent stated that he kept a public silence about the case as a "strategy" to keep the media interest.
Another interesting item-
Page 9- (13) People will present evidence from a Petographer that the cement rings found in his warehouse did not match cement samples taken from his house.
I think if he had her wrapped up in a sleeping bag and then wrapped a tarp around it, it would easily slide out the back of the truck since its angled (launching the boat). then once in the water it would act as an anchor till Snott parked the truck. Once back into the boat with a motor, he could pull the body to any location...attach some of his concrete anchors (leaving white powder in the boat), and then drop it out where he wanted.
Thing is -
Her body was found practically nude. Could he have had the concrete anchors tied to the shirtless body and then wrapped in a sleeping bag? HMM He could have unzipped the bag and sunk the contents. But then what did he do with the sleeping bag? He might have brought "that" tarp home and sprayed it with Fish emulsion too (LE found fertilizer on a tarp at his house). Interesting that others described one anchor he made as 8"X 8"- not very big. He could have had made 5 or 6 of those. Do you think 6- 8" X 8" concrete anchors could fit in a sleeping bag with a 5'2" pregnant woman? I don't know that might have been a tight ZIP..
Yes--totally absurd.
I heard that the great outdoorsman Scott Peterson also owns other guns. You'd think he'd have learned in all his time in the woods that pistols are for muggers, not pheasants.
Shooting sturgeon? The man isn't really into sport, is he? Shooting sturgeon must be as easy as killing a 140-lb very tired pregnant woman!
IMO, when Brocchini accused Scott to his face of "having girlfriends" (plural), he was possibly referring to that affair of Scott's from years earlier--if Brocchini had already heard about it at that time.
More likely, IMO, is that when Brocchini said "girlfriends" (plural) and "I've got pictures", he was just bluffing Scott. It is legal for Brocchini--or police in general--to lie to a suspect in order to try to jar the person into starting to make admissions. For example, when cops catch two co-perps, they often tell one of them, "Your friend has already ratted on you", even when it's not true--and cops can legally get away with this, and if the suspect reacts and starts making admissions, the admissions can be used against him!
LOL, thanks for the tip about misfitting. She's commenting on the World's Stupidest Juror, too. Headline: "Dude, Where's My Brain?"
"...a few of our RN's here had said there is a way to tell if the baby took a breath before going in the water. And I thought I hard a few forensic talking heads state that as well."
I believe you can tell by looking at the lungs. I'm not sure of the condition of his lungs. IMO it would be better for Geragos to argue that Laci was kidnapped and then kept alive for awhile before being killed (this would account for his contention that the baby was older). This idea that the baby was born, kept alive, and then dumped with Laci's body is just way too far fetched. Mind you, I don't believe either one of these scenarios, I just can't see how they could say this isn't a coffin birth.
I now work dinner around Nancy, Catherine and Brit. My family is going to get skinny!
Catherine seems to have some good taps for info!
Thanks,
Pinz
I think he brought the anchors in the boat and when he dumped the body he put them on..possibly with wire around the nude body, and as a result a hair was caught on the wire cutters. it would have been too heavy to carry the body with the anchors already on it.
mark
Well for one thing, if Mr. Peterson is found guilty of killing both Laci AND the baby it will further solidify the Pro-Life's assertion that a fetus is a living being.
Furthermore, if he gets the death penalty for it , maybe, just maybe other would be killers will think twice before killing a pregnant woman even if she IS easy prey.
There is your reason, thank you for coming, have a nice day.
