I doubt another president than Carter would have cut the Marine guards to half their number to avoid antagonizing the 'students.' A single 50 cal would have dispersed the mob in about 12 seconds.

Regan never would have allowed the Islamic revolutionaries to take over the government in Iran. The Iranian military was waiting for a signal from Carter to step in, depose the Shah and create a transitional government. Carter stabbed them in the back and (incredibly) threatened to use the American military against the Iranian military if they tried to form a new government. The Iranian revolutionary guards then executed all the top military officers, and the present Iranian catastophe was set in motion.

Then Carter has the unbelievable nerve to go on TV and say he didn't use force to free the hostages so he could "preserve the integrity of my country." This statement after he stabbed our Iranian allies in the back. Carter is just such a jackass. He's probably our worst president ever in the foreign policy arena.
