If the subject weren't so deadly serious, your statement would be hilarious.
So taking down the Taliban and Saddam Hussein in less than two years is not bold enough for the likes of you? Suppose President Bush had stopped at Afghanistan and never gone into Iraq? Hmmmm... Do you seriously think the jihadists would have simply all gone home to lead peaceful lives?
Alternatively, if he had not invaded Afghanistan, but launched nuclear weapons on the biggest Afghan cities, do you seriously think the jihadists elsewhere would have simply all gone home to lead peaceful lives? These are crazed people who have been fighting their jihad off and on for a thousand years. The ONLY thing that can put an end to it is the will of the Muslim people, themselves. They have to come to the conclusion that there is a better way, and they then have to be willing to clean up their own societies.
President Bush boldly and bravely has taken the risk of providing both Afghanistan and Iraq with the opportunity to build better, freer societies. If those two peoples can succeed, the President is betting that freedom will spread throughout the Middle East. But the opportunity is for the Iraqis and Afghans to seize. That's why no massive leveling of Fallujah occurred.
By running around like a bunch of Chicken Littles many on the Left demanding a pullout and many on the Right demanding that we nuke everybody in sight, and both sides blaming President Bush we are falling dead center into the trap the terrorists have set for us. They think know us better than we know themselves. Let's not prove them right.
good post.
I back GW 100%. I just think he should do more. Fallujah should've been an example of our superior firepower. But hey, let's all just get used to seeing innocent people getting their heads cut off and thank allah for the new normal.
Wolfstar, I went back and read this. YOU ARE BRILLIANT !! I encourage all who read this to go back and read again what you wrote.
I am proud of you !! Thank you !!
Fallujia was spared by Bremer after demands were placed on him by the IGC and after consultations with the POTUS. That's documented. Fallujia should have been made an example of.
Instead, we have mad clerics acting mad (Sadr) AND acting coy (al-Sistani).
One incites violence and barbarism, the other bides his time, playing politics, to use and abuse the new democracy so that he can be elected the next Khomeini but this time in Iraq.
And if Bush can't get re-elected because he won't play PC, so be it. We take 2 steps forward and 1 step back, playing 'whack-a-mohomoden'. It don't work that way in the world of demon-possessed moon-god worshippers.
