I'm not positive of this...( and maybe you have some history with nwctwx, that I am unaware of...) but maybe his/her comment was in regards to what I had heard on the news this morning...concerning "some progress being made" in hostage talks????
FWIW--

I can't imagine the US taking a spontaneous hard line against Islam itself. But it's easy to imagine the US pulling its punches in the name of tolerance. I worry about Bush losing the election, but I worry more about him losing the war. Freedom cannot win if Truth remains a hostage to political correctness. We cannot win the War on Terror if we continue to mid-identify the enemy...

You're so sure that he wasn't being held in Fallujah- where was he being held, smart guy? Well, the "clerics" who said they said they saw him alive, said he was in Baghdad (see thread). They also found the body in Baghdad -- which most likely means he was killed there. (The difficulties inherent in smuggling a decapitated body out of Fallujah all the way to Baghdad rule out his being killed there....)
OK, "smart guy?"

There they go again. CNN is saying a S. Korean man has been "executed." Not murdered. Executed like they do at the end of a legal process.

Please keep us posted on the sentiment in the east. I am curious if the average citizen there will get angry or wobbly.

Agree. On Brian Sussman's show on KSFO last night, a caller with experience with the ROK military forces called in. He said that they are BAD m-f'ers, and that these AQ types are going to be quite sorry that they screwed with them.

If we're "at war" with Terrorists, vs. with a sovereign Government/State/Nation, then the Geneva Conventions don't strictly apply. That's how we are justifying Gitmo for terrorists, right? And as far as I can tell, we are NOT at war with Iraq, so I think it's well past time to take the gloves off with these so-called "insurgents."
But I'm no lawyer, so I could be completely wrong about this.

I've heard the South Korean contigent in Vietnam had a reputation for ruthlessness such that the V.C. and NVA didn't stir up much trouble in their sector. They didn't give a damn what the media said. If true, I hope they take the same attitude into Iraq.
Can any vets confirm?

"Don't ever piss-off the ROKs!"
That was true at one time, but not any more (unfortunately). The present administration in S. Korea is pretty limp-wristed, and it gets all upset when some S.K. students start to vent and riot. There will be a very visible "march" demanding that S.K. withdraw whatever forces it has in Iraq , and pledge to not send any more. The only two countries that have any balls when dealing with these misfits are Israel and Russia.

I'm talking wahhabbist islam....Until we march on Saudi Arabia and eliminate and eradicate the madrassas the concerns of Rumsfeld will remain. These schools are putting them out faster than we can kill them.Agreed.

Perhaps the terrorists had a mullah proclaim him an infidel and worthy of beheading. I believe under Islamic 'law' that would be a suitable sentence.
So if one is a moral relativist (like the media) then it really was just an execution since the South Korean man was guilty of being an infidel.
CNN is in bed with the terrorists in my opinion, so such a rationalization would not surprise me.

Believe me, newbie, the Mods are well aware of you and your bombastic ranting and personal attacks.
Suggestion: step back, WATCH and READ and maybe then you'll learn some manners.
And trust me, whenever I see you attacking in that manner I will not hesitate to report you.

Maybe the media doesn't know about this passage from the Koran:
Sura 8:12 Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."
