There is no question if the federal government did this project the costs would already be in the billions. I can just imagine the government requiring a handicap ramp to enter the ship.

I dragged Mrs. Holmes and the chirrun down to Spaceport Mojave yesterday and it was a beautiful thing. As the spacecraft rolled out, on time yesterday at 6:30 we were informed that the hangar was dark all weekend. They were ready to go on Friday. Dick Rutan quipped, "This is rocket science folks, not brain surgery."

The flight was flawless. The event attended by maybe 30K people. After the flight there was a sign propped up on SS1 saying "SpaceShip 1, NASA 0. It was all over by 9:30.

The craft is powered by tires and laughing gas. They could probably turn it around in a day. Imagine being anywhere on the planet with an airport in 90 minutes. There is a viable business here.

Pictures to follow, somewhere, sometime.
