....."I don't think the Bishops want to use Holy Communion as a club against pro-abort Catholic politicians".....

It's not about politics, it's about morals and right and wrong. Politics has been in the Church since before Christ, if we read the Bible in toto, we see that Christ came "for" His Church. He couldn't come for the damned because they are damned from the foundation and are not His. He came for His "sheep" to bring them into His flock. That got Him crucified, just as He knew would happen. The politicians saw Him as a threat instead of a Redeemer. He threatened the power system they had established. If you read the verses with an eye to the purpose of His words to the leaders of the church, you can see He was trying to tell them they are mislead, ergo, they are misleading the flock.

Todays churches, protestant or catholic, are arguing over things that have long been settled by God in His Word. To argue that Jesus would allow an abortion is just a lie and blasphemy. There is not one verse that I can find where a woman becomes pregnant and is is not a "blessing" from God. Children are His to give and take, they are not ours. He gives us the responsibility and the joy and pain of raising His "gift" to us, but they remain His property. If we throw away His gift to us, we are in grave danger from judgement.

Many people say the commandment on "taking the Lord's name in vain", means cussing. I believe it is much more offensive to say you are a Christian, and are actually a liar! Murderer's can be forgiven if they repent, as well as sodomites, but one cannot be forgiven if you are not contrite. If you are not contrite, you are saying "God is a Liar" and I'm right and He's wrong. By Kerry, and others, saying they know more than God, they are still in rebellion and are taking the Lords name in vain.

Church leaders must be God pleasers and not man pleasers. It is not their job to keep the flock happy(for thry never will be). The Baptists just had a split because a part of the flock became too liberal to ignore anymore. When the denomiations split many years ago, it was arguments over interpretations of scripture. Today we argue over plain ole right and wrong. Murder of children will never be right and sodomites were delt with accordingly in scripture. I can't see how anyone can argue otherwise if you read the scriptures, no matter what denomiation.

One of the characteristics of God is that He is never changing. If it were possible for Him to change, how could we ever trust His covenents with us. By the same token, why do we alway think that what God really meant was somehow different from what He said or did in scripture? By the Church not calling out the error of Kerry and his ilk, they demoralize the rest of the flock and look insincere to the lost people. Church discipline was covered in the Corinthian church, and it needs to come back. If you don't like Christianity, be something else. It's easy to be a pagan.

I once asked a Catholic nun what opinion she had about politics. She gave me a cookie cutter response about caring for the poor, and that being her guiding factor in choosing a politician. I was so dissapointed. As a Catholic I realize the catholic church isn't doing very well. Although many individual churches and schools are on filled with spirituality.

Excellent point.
