I saw a television show on these type dogs once. It was truly amazing. The show also reported that there was the posibility that dogs could detect disease, including cancer, through their sense of smell. Again, amazing.

One of my dogs predicted my other dog's attacks. She gave us a heads up on New Years day when our older dog had 7 attacks in one day. She's on medicine now and fine, but after about the 3rd attack, we clued in on what was happening based upon our other dog's reaction.

INdeed.
I can't imagine not having a dog around. My old lady dog is in the doggie hospital right now (slowly getting better) and the house just isn't right without her.

Not to wag my own tail mind you, but a friend's pitbull has saved his life many times during seizures.
It really is true.

Thanks for posting the picture of your samoyeds. It brings back some wonderful memories. My family had a samoyed when I was little. Otto was a devoted protector, companion, and playmate.

I believe there's a fellow who has a southern flying squirrel that does the same thing. The squirrel (they're nocturnal) spends the day in the guy's shirt and bites his chest just before a seizure. He then sits down until the episode passes, thus avoiding a fall (which could squish the squirrel).

We have a laso apso mix female, probably 6 or 8 years old, such a sweet heart, got her at a rescue in Naperville a year ago. She seems to know when storms come through the area which ones involve tornadoes that are close. Most thunder, heavy rain and such don't bother her, but we have had 3 bad storms go through this spring that brought tornadoes very close to our home and she knew before the winds even began in the area. She went in the bath tub! I have never seen a dog or known a dog to do this! But she must of sensed it in the air.
